William Regal reportedly returning to WWE in 2023

According to a reports from PWInsider and F4WOnline, William Regal is said to be finalizing a new deal with WWE for an expected return in 2023. WWE released Regal from his contract on January 5, 2022, ending his 22-year run with the company.

The report from F4WOnline notes that there have been multiple stories regarding Regal’s contractual status with AEW, that has included Regal’s contract has been short term and that those in WWE said Regal had a way out of his AEW deal.

Regal debuted in AEW at this year’s Revolution pay-per-view following the Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson match, to break up a fight between the two. He then went on to form the Blackpool Combat Club with Moxley, Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.

At last Wednesday’s Dynamite, there was an angle that looks to write Regal off AEW TV and storylines, where MJF turned on him and then knocked him in out with brass knuckles, after he (Regal) had helped MJF defeat Jon Moxley at Full Gear to win the AEW World Title.
