Interview highlights courtesy of Paterson, MNM’s associate producer & official correspondent:
Whether he believes that “Best In The World 2011” was the best ever Ring of Honor has ever put on in the company’s history: “It’s hard to say if it was the best or not. I have particular favorite matches over the years, and I have particular favorite moments. If someone would ask me for my top five Ring of Honor events or top five Ring of Honor matches, it’s tough. It was one of the best shows. The Atlanta show on Night I, the last few New York shows, the night Tyler Black won the (ROH) Title from (Austin) Aries. This matched up with those shows.”
Why he feels there should be no cause for concern down the line over Sinclair Broadcasting selling ROH if the product does not perform early on in the partnership: “They own the company. I do not have an option (to purchase the company back), but I will tell you this: They have full intentions of giving this thing a hell of a shot. They’re not talking about looking at what happens in six or nine months or a year. They know it’s going to take a little time. So they have full intentions of the television show rolling out. It’s going to be in 35 markets. Their intention is to have it on everywhere, so I don’t think the fans have to worry that Sinclair is “hotshotting.” They are picking their times and putting a lot into this.”
The latest on the rumors of The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) possibly signing with the WWE & his message to the former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions: “It’s the same story, and we have been through this so many times. Whether it was CM Punk, whether it was Tyler (Black), Samoa Joe, Nigel (McGuinness), Bryan Danielson, or so on & so forth. These guys have been so loyal and have worked so hard. Naturally, we would love to have them in this new era of Ring of Honor, and we may. But if they have an opportunity to further their careers, on a personal note, I can’t begrudge them. Nothing is signed, nothing is done yet. That’s another thing where we are going to see what happens.”
Much more is contained in Cary Silkin’s exclusive interview with The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including his candid thoughts on his current role within ROH after the sale to Sinclair Broadcasting, what he wishes to tell the fans of Ring of Honor that believe that Sinclair’s acquisition of the company is bad for the Ring of Honor product, whether the ROH World Championship Match between Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards at “Best In The World 2011” was the greatest match in Ring of Honor history, the ROH futures of Jay Lethal & Rhino, if we have seen the last of “The Notorious 187” Homicide & “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels in the world of honor, his message to wrestling fans that have not had the opportunity to check out Ring of Honor, plus much more!
