In a recent interview with Deadline, writer/director Peter Farrelly revealed he was in talks to have John Cena and Zac Efron star in his first R-rated comedy, Ricky Stanicky.
The article notes that Farrelly cautions deals are not done, and negotiations for the actors are not locked in. It was also noted shooting for the film is scheduled to begin in January 2023.
Deadline further states, Ricky Stanicky is a fictional character used by a group of married friends to blame their misbehavior when making excuses to their wives. When the wives become suspicious of never meeting this person, the husbands then find someone to play the fictional character. This would be the role played by John Cena.
Efron is playing Kevin Von Erich in The Iron Claw which will begin shooting very soon in Louisiana.
