Notes coming out of AEW Dynamite: Undisputed World Championship; IMPACT talent, Thunder Rosa, more

The following is notable news coming out of Wednesday night’s (8/24) AEW Dynamite that aired live on TBS, that took place from the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH. Excerpts are courtesy from Josh Boutwell’s recap of the show.

Jon Moxley defeated CM Punk to become the new Undisputed AEW World Champion.

Punk and Moxley lockup and stalemate but when the referee tries to separate them in the corner, Moxley blasts Punk and beats him down with a barrage of rights and lefts. He dares Punk to get back up and Punk answers with a slap followed by a series of strikes. As the referee pulls Punk off, Moxley attacks him only to then eat a Roundhouse Kick from Punk. Punk immediately falls down and starts screaming and rolling around in pain grabbing his foot. The referee calls for the doctor but Moxley destroys Punk with a King Kong Lariat. Moxley hits a series of elbows and then puts Punk in an Ankle Lock. Moxley hits two Death Riders and pins Punk to become undisputed World Champion.

Thunder Rosa is injured. There will be an AEW Interim Women’s Champion crowned at all out. During the backstage segment, Rosa was crying as she said that she has to step down as Women’s Champion due to injury. She wished Toni Storm luck but says this won’t stop her and she will come back better and stronger with a bigger chip on her shoulder. The other three wrestlers that will compete in the match will be Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Britt Baker.

Sonjay Dutt announced that he and Satnam Singh will not be teaming with Jay Lethal in the six-man tag against FTR and Wardlow. Instead, Dutt is bringing in IMPACT’s Wresting’s Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) to team with Lethal at All Out. This will be both Shelley and Sabin’s AEW debut.

Another notable mention is that Kip Sabian revealed himself chose to pick a fight the AEW All Atlantic Champion with PAC.
