WWE pulls Drew McIntyre off this weekend’s live events

As first reported by ProWrestling.net, then F4WOnline, Drew McIntyre has been pulled off this weekend’s live events in Salisbury, Maryland, and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The reports note that this is a precautionary move due to lower back soreness. Fightful also confirmed the reports and further stated that McIntyre has been dealing with “a rough back injury” that requires additional rest. It was also stated that no surgery will be required.

McIntyre is still expected to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the main event of next month’s Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales.

He worked Friday night’s SmackDown in Raleigh, NC, when he was jumped by The Usos after Scarlett came down to the ring, serving as a distraction. Later that night in backstage segment, McIntyre then jumped The Usos, saying that he was tired of them interfering in his business.

The 37-year old McIntyre is scheduled to have a face-to-face with Reigns on next Friday’s SmackDown in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as they will continue to build up their title match for Clash at the Castle on September 3rd.
