Brock Lesnar walking out of WWE SmackDown said to have been “overblown”

Mike Tedesco reported on Friday that Brock Lesnar left the TD Garden in Boston just hours before Friday’s WWE SmackDown went live on FOX. Lesnar was said to have left the arena after hearing of Vince McMahon’s retirement. Lesnar reportedly said something to the effect of, “If he’s gone, I’m gone.”

WWE Lesnar removed from the SmackDown preview on WWE.com. Sources indicate that officials were working on convincing Lesnar to return. Lesnar appeared in final segment of the show, where he came out to the ring and took out Theory that included two F-5’s, with one on the Money in the Bank briefcase.

In a new report, per Fightful Select, one source has now described the situation as being “overblown.” It was said that things “blew over.” It was also noted creative did have to re-write the script for Friday night’s show, without Lesnar. However, Fightful did indicate that WWE left the last segment of the show open in a way where Lesnar could be included if he returned.

PWinsider reported late Friday night that Lesnar was originally slated to appear in the first segment of Smackdown and then immediately leave to return home via his private plane.

On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said this was not a situation where Lesnar left the arena only to return right before his segment.
