The first night of CHIKARA’s King of Trios weekend rocked the ECW Arena last night before a full house.

The evening began with an emotional video tribute to Larry Sweeney.

  • The Osirian Portal (Ophidian/Hieracon/Amasis) defeated Team 3OLE (El Generico, Scott “Jagged” Parker/Shane Matthews) after the Portal hit the Osirian Sacrament on Shane Matthews at about 18 minutes, complete with the almost mandatory Osirian Portal dance spot.
  • F.I.S.T. (Icarus/Chuck Taylor/Johnny Gargano) defeated Team Australia (Tama Williams/Percy/Kabel) after Johnny Gargano pins Tama Williams at 11:13. Looks off to see F.I.S.T without Gran Akuma.
  • Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (Tim Donst/Delirious/Jakob Hammermeier) defeated Da Soul Touchaz (Willie Richardson/Acid Jaz/Marshe Rockett) when Jakob pinned Acid Jazz, after outside Tursas interference from Tursas at about 11 minutes:.
  • Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, and Manami Toyota defeated The Amazing Red and the Maximos after a ’68 Comeback Special by Quackenbush, followed by a top rope elbow by Jigsaw on Will Maximo at 10 minutes. It was a bigtime thrill to see Toyota live after all these years.
  • Team Dragon Gate (Super Shisa/Akira Tozawa/Kagetora) defeated The Spectral Envoy (Hallowicked/Frightmare/UltraMantis Black) after Super Shisa hit the Yoshitonic on Frightmare at 15 minutes.
  • Team Osaka Pro (Atsushi Kotoge/Daisuke Harada/Ultimate Spider, Jr.) defeated the trio of the Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield/Sugar Dunkerton) and Matt Classic after Ultimo Spider Jr. cradled Matt Classic at 17 minutes with a La Magistral
  • The Colony (Fire Ant/Soldier Ant/Green Ant) defeated The Dark Army (Sinn “Kizarny” Bodhi/Obariyon/Kodama) after 17 minutes, when Obariyon was nailed with the Ant Hill. Sinn “Kizarny” Bodhi didn’t make any friends after pre-show remarks that some took as a sideways crack at Larry Sweeney (watching the clip, looks like it was actually just part of Bodhi’s character…and not intended the way some took it…but even CHIKARA alumni Gran Akuma said he’s have been in jail had he been at the Arena last night.
  • Team Michinoku Pro (Great Sasuke/Dick Togo/Jinsei Shinzaki) defeated. Team Minnesota (1-2-3 Kid/Arik Cannon/Darin Corbin) after a after a Dick Togo senton by on Darin Corbin after 23 minutes. Watching the “original” Michinoku Pro team was a thrill…gotta wonder why Dick Togo wants to retire as he hasn’t missed a step and looked great in the ring

    Night 2 of CHIKARA’s King of Trios weekend then took place with another full house, depsite torrential rain and thunderstorm throughout the Philadelphia area (which might have cost a few walk-up fans), a Philadelphia Flyers Stanley Cup playoff game, and a rare Philadelphia 76ers playoff game..

  • Archibald Peck defeated Colt Cabana (nice way to treat the NWA Champion). Peck does a high school band leader gimmick with a baton twirler valet…gimmick seemed more suited for an indy that does shows in junior high schools than a show like this). Peck won with a baton shot, then a diving headbutt at nine minutes.
  • F.I.S.T. (Icarus/Chuck Taylor/Johnny Gargano) defeated Team Osaka Pro (Atsushi Kotoge/Daisuke Harada/Ultimate Spider, Jr.) when Chuck Taylor rolled up Spider at 19 minutes
  • Rey De Voladores match 1 saw Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Pinkie Sanchez vs. El Generico vs. Marshe Rockett (and heel BDK referee Derek Sabato). First fall saw Pinkie pin Marshe Rockett at 13 minutes after some help from heel BDK referee Sabato. Second elimination had Sanchez elimninate Zach Sabre Jr.by pinfall at 16 minutes with a Springboard seated splash. The final fall saw El Generico defeat Sanchez with a cool-looking Turnbuckle Brainbuster on Pinkie in 21 minutes.
  • The Osirian Portal (Ophidian/Hieracon/Amasis) defeated Team Dragon Gate (Super Shisa/Akira Tozawa/Kagetora) after a 450 splash by Amasis on Super Shisa at about 21 minutes
  • In a singles match, Eddie Kingston defeated Arik Cannon with the Sliding D at 7 minutes. Kingston came out with a “Sweet and Sour” t-shirt and got choked up, as he and Cannon post-match acknowledged Sweeney, by opening up the shirt and leaving it facing the camera as they left the ring.
  • .The Colony (Fire Ant/Soldier Ant/Green Ant) defeated Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (Tim Donst/Delirious/Jakob Hammermeier) after a Tursas run-in attempt was stopped after an Green Ant (incredible to see), Hammermeie submitted to the Torture Rack at 13 minutes.
  • Rey De Voladores match 2 saw Obariyon vs. Frightmare vs. Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid) vs. the Amazing Red. The first elimination saw Obariyon eliminates the Amazing Red with a leaping DDT. Second fall saw Frightmare eliminate Obariyon via Kneecolepsy. Sean Waltman defeated Frightmare at 17 minutes with a Super X-Factor; making the Rey De Voladores final later today: El Generico vs. Sean Waltman
  • The main event saw Team Michinoku Pro (Great Sasuke/Dick Togo/Jinsei Shinzaki) defeated Mike Quackenbush, Manami Toyota and Jigsaw in a tremendous match after a Great Sasuke powerbomb at Quackenbush at 21 minutes.

    “Night” 3 of King of Trios took place Sunday afternoon before the largest advance of the entire weekend.

  • The Colony defeated The Osirian Portal after a Super neckbreaker by Soldier Ant on Hieracon at 16 minutes.
  • F.I.S.T. defeated Team Michinoku Pro after an assist of powder in the eyes of Great Sasuke in 15 minutes
  • In a singles match, Jigsaw defeated Ultimate Spider Jr. after a brainbuster followed by a top rope double stomp at 8 minutes.

  • Tag Team Gauntlet

    First fall: Arik Cannon/Darin Corbin defeated. Da Soul Touchaz after Cannon rolls up Willie at 6 minutes
    Second fall: The Batiri defeated Arik Cannon/Darin Corbin after a leaping DDT by Obariyon on Corbin at 14 minutes.
    Third fall: The Throwbacks defeated The Batiri after a low blow by Obariyon on Dasher gets the Batiri DQed at 15 minutes
    Fourth fall: Sara Del Rey/Daizee Haze defeated Matt Classic/Darkness Crabtree in a brief comic misadventure
    Fifth fall: The Roughnecks pinned Sara Del Rey/Daizee Haze after feet on the ropes allows Grizzly to pin Haze at 27 minutes
    Sixth fall: Kotoge/Harada (Osaka Pro) defeated The Rougknecks after a Spanish Fly by Kotoge on Grizzly at 29 minutes
    Seventh fall: Kotoge/Harada defeated 3.0 were eliminated at 33 minutes.

    Eighth fall: Kotoge/Harada vs. KAGETORA/Super Shisa

    The tag gauntlet ends at 40 minutes as Kotoge pins Super Shisa, giving the Osaka Pro team three points toward a future tag title match for the CHIKARA Tag
    Team Titles

  • Manami Toyota vs. Madison Eagles defeated Madison Eagles in 12 minutes

  • Eddie Kingston defeated Akira Tozawa after a backdrop driver by Kingston in 12 minutes in a stiff match.

  • El Generico defeated The 1-2-3 Kid at 18 minutes after a Turnbuckle Brainbuster by El Generico . Easily the match of the weekend .

  • The Colony become the 2011 King of Trios Champions defeated. F. I. S. T. after a Splashapalooza (top rope Ant Hill) at 21 minutes on Icarus
