* NOTES *
– This was CMLL’s show at the Lucha Festival in Guadalajara this past weekend.
– Pretty crazy stuff with the Mask Matches. Fantasma & Oro had a bloody match and Fantasma cheated in the 3rd fall to take Oro II’s mask. Immediately afterward Oro challenged Fantasma to a Mask vs. Hair rematch and Fantasma accepted. Oro got his revenge and took the mask of Fantasma de la Opera. Following the match Oro II introduced his nephew as a new Oro that would be taking up the name eventually as well.

2011 Rey de Reyes Tournament
The 1st Round Stages of the 2011 Rey de Reyes Tournament completed this past weekend when former WWE star, Carlito Colon, defeated Jack Evans, Decnis, & Ozz to advance to the finals at the Rey de Reyes PPV on 03/18. He will face Extreme Tiger, El Mesias, & L.A. Park in the Final Elimination Match to crown the 2011 Rey de Reyes.

– GROUP B: El Mesias def. Aerostar, Electroshock, & Super Fly (02/19)
– GROUP C: L.A. Park def. Dr. Wagner Jr., Halloween, & Nicho el Millionario (02/28)
– GROUP D: Carlito Colon def. Jack Evans, Decnis, & Ozz (03/04)
– FINALS: Extreme Tiger vs. El Mesias vs. L.A. Park vs. Carlito Colon (03/18)
AAA 03/04 TV Taping Results

4) 2011 Rey de Reyes Group D: Carlito Colon def. Jack Evans, Decnis, & Ozz
5) El Mesias, Extreme Tiger, & Cuervo def. L.A. Park, Silver Kain, & Ultimo Gladiador
* NOTES *
– Gran Apache accompanied his daughter and her team to the ring in the Opener. Hijo del Tirantes helped the rudos win and then attacked Gran Apache after the match with a chair. He then challenged Apache to a match at Rey de Reyes as Gran Apache was being taken to the back on a stretcher.
– Nygma threw powder into Nicho’s face and pinned him in the 2nd match. Afterward Zorro came out and laid Escoria & Nygma out while Manson took off.
– The Best of 5 Series continued in a Bloody Match that saw Los Maniacos come out again to help Metal, but this time Electro took Silver Kain’s bottle (which he brought to the ring to hit Electro with) and nailed Metal with it for the pin. Electro goes up 2-1 in the Best of 5 Series.
– Carlito got a huge ovation from the crowd in the Group D Match. It came down to he and Evans with Carlito getting the win and moving onto the Finals. Konnan came out after the match and congratulated Carlito. He then offered Jennifer Blade & Sexy Star to Carlito to join La Sociedad which Carlito accepted because he said Mexican women were all ugly (does he not realize Sexy Star is Mexican?) and then he said after he wins Rey de Reyes he’s on the first plane out of Mexico.

AAA 03/13 TV Taping Lineup

* NOTES *
– Pimpinela & Fabi Apache are the Mixed Tag Team Champions but Fabi Apache is out due to injury. Unless she makes a return here, someone will replace her in the match, most likely her sister (Mari). Then again Fabi did wrestle this past weekend to alot of peoples surprise so she may show up for this.
– This is the final taping before Rey de Reyes.
AAA 03/18 “2011 Rey de Reyes” Lineup
1) Gran Apache, Mari Apache, Octagoncito II, & Pimpinela Escarlata vs. Hijo de Tirantes, Sexy Star, Mini Histeria, & Yuriko
2) Nicho el Millionario, Joe Lider, Jack Evans, & La Parka Jr. vs. Cibernetico, Escoria, Nygma, & TBA
3) AAA World Heavyweight Title: El Zorro (c) vs. Charly Manson
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Monster Clown, Murder Clown, & Psycho Clown vs. Perro Aguayo Jr., Super Crazy, Damian666, & Halloween
5) 2011 Rey de Reyes Finals: Extreme Tiger vs. El Mesias vs. L.A. Park vs. Carlito Colon
6) Best of 5 Series Final Hair vs. Hair Match: Electroshock vs. Heavy Metal
* NOTES *
– I understand Hair vs. Hair Matches are a big deal especially in AAA where they happy VERY rarely (not quite as rarely as Mask vs. Mask though), but damn does that say alot about how AAA feels about the AAA Heavyweight Title and the guys in that match to have it slam in the Midcard? And what’s funny is I now think that match will be a Match of the Year Candidate. I figured it would end up being the usual Main Event AAA brawl with a bunch of dumb weapons and interference, but this shows me they really don’t care too much about that match and they will probably just let Manson & Zorro go out there and wrestle. Because of that it will probably be great. Then again, I’ll probably be wrong.
– Rey de Reyes is likely going to be either Mesias or Tiger. Carlito is only in for the last TV Taping and this show and Park doesn’t need the win at all (he already has a Title shot coming up). Rey de Reyes is one of the few things Mesias HASN’T won but he doesn’t need it either. This is the type of match that should help get over a young guy like Extreme Tiger to get to that next level. Will they do the right thing and put him over in it? Probably not. He’ll probably be back in random trios matches with Jack Evans next month.
Don Fujii Injured
Dragon Gate star, Don Fujii, suffered a head injury (possibly a concussion) and may be out until 03/15 to heal up.
Austin Aries Putting His Career On The Line
This past weekend Austin Aries “cut a promo” on YouTube where he made a challenge to YAMATO to defend the Open the Freedom Gate Title against him on the WrestleMania weekend. Aries then said that if YAMATO & Dragon Gate USA accept his challenge then he will put his spot on the Dragon Gate USA roster on the line! Currently YAMATO is scheduled to defend the belt against Akira Tozawa on 04/02 and Aries made his challenge for 04/02. DG-USA announced on their official site that YAMATO has accepted the challenge and DG-USA is signing off on it! So on 04/02 YAMATO will defend the Open the Freedom Gate Championship against Austin Aries! If Aries loses then he is gone from DG-USA! Plus, since Tozawa EARNED a title shot he will instead challenge for the Open the Brave Gate Championship as PAC defends his title for the first time in America! Tozawa will also face YAMATO on 04/03 in a Non-Title Match which could result in him eventually getting a shot at the Freedom Gate Title if YAMATO is still champion by then. This turn of events should be extremely interesting given the teases Aries has made on Twitter about potentially retiring soon.

WWE RAW Airs Sin Cara Vignette
On this past Monday’s RAW WWE aired an awesome vignette hyping up the debut of Sin Cara which featured Cara hitting an array of moves (including La Mistica) on 2 luchadors (Alex Koslov was one while the other one was masked and unknown at this point though some have mentioned that it looks a hell of a lot like CMLL’s Averno). To view the great promo view below:
