In the latest Wrestleview poll asking who will win the 2011 Royal Rumble, the results are as follows:
Alberto Del Rio 18% (785 votes)
Big Show 2% (105 votes)
CM Punk 12% (532 votes)
John Morrison 11% (458 votes)
John Cena 13% (558 votes)
Sheamus 2% (107 votes)
Triple H 28% (1,202 votes)
Wade Barrett 5% (213 votes)
Other 8% (339 votes)

Just a few days ago was the first ever forty man Royal Rumble. The Rumble itself is always a great event to speculate on so we took some of the top names and favorites heading into the show and put it to a vote. Since Triple H as a rumored surprise for the show, he was placed on the ballot. After the voting was over he came out a clear winner with 28% of the votes. Now that we are removed from the Rumble we know that Triple H did not appear. However, the results of this poll say a lot about fans anticipation of his return. He seems destined to resume his feud with Sheamus once he is back. After that it is anyone’s guess. A rumored match at one time for Mania was Triple H vs. Edge, which would mean a move to Smackdown for The Game. A match against Miz will likely happen one day. A match with Triple H at Mania could have done the same for Miz what Wrestlemania XXII did for John Cena.
Coming is at second place was the man who won the Rumble, Alberto Del Rio. What an incredible push Del Rio was given. He debuted back in August and he is already going to the main event of Wrestlemania. The last time a heel won the Rumble was in 2009 with Randy Orton, who went on to lose at Wrestlemania against Triple H. Before Orton, a heel had not won the Rumble since 1999 when Vince McMahon took home the win. Before that, Yokozuna in 1993. Del Rio’s win is significant for both his heel win, his big push, and that he was the first to beat thirty-nine other stars to win the Rumble. Del Rio is on a tear heading into Mania and nothing seems possible of stopping him.
Many votes went to John Cena who looks like he will be heading into Mania against Miz for the WWE Championship. His feud with CM Punk garnered votes for both men, with the idea they would face one another rat Mania it one of them could pick up the belt before the big day.
Wade Barrett remains a top player in WWE despite losing his feud to John Cena, and his faction to CM Punk. Challenging Edge at Mania would make sense. Sheamus picked up some votes with the possibility of a title match at Mania with the returning Triple H. Big Show also got a decent amount of votes because of his prominence on Smackdown. The Other category nabbed votes for Jerry Lawler mostly, as expressed in the comments section of this poll. A lot of people want to see King in a Wrestlemania, and his feud with Miz has been very good.
