Adam Cole reportedly offered an AEW contract

As first reported by Fightful Select, and then confirmed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW has reportedly made a contract offer to Adam Cole.

Several sources have reported that Cole’s WWE NXT contract is set to expire after SummerSlam Weekend.

Reports also noted that Cole’s contract originally expired in early July, but a short extension was negotiated through SummerSlam Weekend, and that both sides would then re-evaluate a possible new deal.

As of Friday, it is being said that AEW has made an offer to Cole, according to those close to the situation, and that Cole is currently negotiating a new NXT contract. Sources have said today, that as of earlier this week he had not agreed to either offer.

Fightful Select noted that Cole still has a positive relationship with top officials in WWE, and that there is a lot of mutual respect with both sides.

NXT Superstars have 30-day non compete clauses. There are some reports stating that when Cole signed his extension, he it negated his 30-day non compete clause, while others have said he would have to wait 30 days before making his debut elsewhere.

It should also be noted that current AEW Women’s Champion is Cole’s longtime real-life partner. Cole is also good friends with AEW Executive Vice Presidents Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

As of now the plan is for Cole is square-off with Kyle O’Reilly at the NXT Takeover 36 event during SummerSlam Weekend. The event will be held at the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
