WWE SmackDown kicks off with highlights of the WWE Universal Championship match from FastLane.
Live in the Thunderdome, Daniel Bryan walks down to the ring with a steel chair. Bryan says everyone saw the truth, everyone saw the reality and everyone saw something that Roman said would never happen and had never happened before. Everybody saw Roman tap out. Bryan says Roman has never tapped out and last week he said he would rather die than tap out to somebody like him. Bryan says good news, Roman Reigns is alive and Roman Reigns tapped out to Daniel Bryan.
Bryan says in a perfect world, what that would mean is he would be standing in the ring as the Universal Champion. He would be standing in the ring knowing that he was going to main event WrestleMania but neither of those things are true. And the reason is because as he was making Roman tap out, Edge hit him across the back with a steel chair. He talks about how Edge has stated that Bryan has not been doing things right and how he should let people have Edge vs. Roman but the thing is that he has had enough.
Daniel says he is tired of letting everybody just have a dream match that they didn’t earn. He earned the Universal Championship match, he earned the Universal Championship and he earned being in the main event of WrestleMania. But he’s willing to earn it all again and here is what he is asking. Bryan says he wants a rematch against Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and he wants it tonight. Bryan says he’s not leaving the ring until he gets what he wants.
Bryan grabs the chair and sits in the middle of the ring.
We are cutting straight to the chase on SmackDown tonight. Daniel Bryan with a convincing promo about how he earned and should be in the main event of #WrestleMania. This opening promo going into two segments. #SmackDown

-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Daniel Bryan is still in the ring. Out comes Adam Pearce who tells him he can’t give him a rematch tonight. Bryan asks if he didn’t see Roman tap out. Pearce says he saw it but unfortunately, the referee’s decision is final. Roman is the Universal Champion and the next time he will defend his title will be at WrestleMania vs. Edge. Bryan says he has a solution. How about he does Edge vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania and he immediately faces the winner for the Universal Championship. Pearce says he knows that would be unfair.
Bryan laughs and says it’s fine for him to fight 40 minutes in the Elimination Chamber and fight for the Universal Championship after that. There’s a double standard. Is that too difficult for Edge and Roman? WrestleMania is two nights. On night one it’s Edge vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and night two, the winner of that match faces Daniel Bryan for the Universal Championship. Bryan says that is reasonable.
Edge’s music hits as he slaps the microphone out of Pearce’s hands and walks down to the ring. Edge asks for a microphone. He tells Bryan that for the last month, he watched Bryan talk about how this could be his last WrestleMania. But every match could be Edge’s last match. Edge says this is his dream and Bryan wants to take that away. But he won the Rumble, he outlasted everyone, Bryan included. Edge says Bryan lost twice to Roman Reigns while he won the Rumble. Edge calls Bryan a son of a bitch and tells him he doesn’t deserve a match/. Bryan takes Edge down but Edge gets back up and hits him with a spear.
With Bryan down, Edge grabs the steel chair and hits Bryan across the back with it. He throws the chair and slides to the outside of the ring.
I'll tell you what, for all the potential talk of a triple threat match, the idea of having the Universal Championship match defended on both nights at #WrestleMania could work. While I don't think they will do that, it's not a bad idea. #SmackDown

Roman is backstage and in comes Pearce. Reigns stands up and looks at Pearce. He tells Pearce the reason why he is here is because he wants him to understand that he gets him at WrestleMania for one night and only one title match. Now he can thank them. Pearce says he understands his points and he’s almost inclined to agree but there are other things for him to consider. He says everyone will have his decision by the end of the night as Pearce leaves the room.
Who ever thought having two guys, both with long black hair, both wearing red and black tights fight each other was a good idea needs to rethink things. Seth Rollins against Shinsuke Nakamura was a solid match but a clash of looks. #SmackDown

Edge asks Pearce backstage what kind of ship he is trying to run with this whole Daniel Bryan thing. Pearce says his responsibilities are to WWE, not to himself, Bryan or Roman. He has to make the decision and at the end of the night, that is what he will do. Edge says he hopes Pearce makes the right decision or else.
The Kevin Owens Show – Kevin Owens with Sami Zayn
Kevin Owens says these past few weeks, he tried to make it clear to Sami that even if he doesn’t believe in his conspiracy theories, he still has his back. And what he got for it was Sami nearly kicking his head off his shoulders. So this week, he has a question and the only person that can give him an answer is Sami Zayn. He calls Sami out to the ring.
Out comes Sami with his crew. He says he is sorry for what he did last week. He truly is, he had no business kicking him. It’s just that this conspiracy stuff has gotten to him and he crossed the line. He says the answer to the question Kevin wanted to ask was that he is sorry.
Kevin says that’s not what he wanted an answer to. Sami says his question is despite the misunderstanding, can Kevin still be part of this documentary? And the answer is yes and he is about to drop a bombshell right now. He says next week he is having a red carpet premiere for the release of the trailer for his documentary which will expose the entire conspiracy by the WWE against him. He tells Kevin there is more. He’s probably aware that he is going back and forth with Logan Paul. And he’s into the documentary.
Sami says Logan will help his documentary get the exposure and Logan Paul will be on SmackDown next week. He tells Kevin he can be included in it too.
Kevin says he doesn’t care about his documentary, about Logan Paul, about if he is sorry. Sami cuts him off and tells Kevin he owes him an apology. Kevin tells Sami the only reason he has allowed him to stand in his ring for this long without beating him senseless is because he wants an answer now. And the question is him vs. Kevin, one on one at WrestleMania. Yes or no? Sami tries to talk is way out of it as Kevin corners him in the ring as Sami accepts.
Owens says but now that he has his answer, he will beat him senseless as Kevin attacks Sami. He hits Sami with the stunner as we cut to the back.
Bryan is backstage with Pearce and he tells him he knows the pressure he is under because he was SmackDown general manager before. But deep down, Pearce knows what the right decision is and he just has to make it as Bryan walks away.
Three new matches announced tonight for #WrestleMania. With only two weeks away from the show, they are riding the momentum. #SmackDown

Bianca and Natalya was one of the better women's matches in a while. Sasha on commentary is annoying and not in a good way. Also, Sasha keeps saying she will main event #WrestleMania which should not happen. #SmackDown

A surprisingly physical and good match. Solid effort by Ziggler and Rey. Surely we are getting Rey and Dominik in a Tag Team title match at #WrestleMania. Can't see them not involved. #SmackDown

-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Reigns and Pearce are in the ring. Edge’s music hits and out he comes. All three men are in the ring as Daniel Bryan’s music hits. All four men in the ring. Pearce says he understands everyone’s concerns. He says he understands why Roman and Edge would not want to compete twice in one night. And why they would not want to wrestle both nights. All of those things make sense but what Dnaiel Bryan says also makes sense.
Pearce says Bryan is right when he said that there was a double standard and that he deserves a chance at the title. Roman will defend the title one time at WrestleMania, he is right. Pearce says his decision is that at WrestleMania, for the Universal Championship, it will be a triple threat match. Edge and Roman Reigns are unhappy as Bryan is smirking. Bryan and Edge start to fight. Bryan knocks Edge down and Roman hits Bryan with a Superman punch.

Out come WWE officials as Edge hits them with a chair. He places the chair in the middle of the ring and sits down as Bryan is outside of the ring with WWE officials.
A kind of predictable decision regarding the WWE Universal Championship match at #WrestleMania. We are getting the triple threat. Edge came out of this show looking strong. #SmackDown

It felt like a lot more promos than matches this week on SmackDown which is understandable. The matches we did get weren't bad at all too. Three new matches announced for #WrestleMania with the main event being modified. #SmackDown
