First off…the A1wrestling portal, which has had my PWBTS.com site as one of its wrestling news sites for several years has a new owner and has now relocated addresses to A1-wrestling.com. Check it out at its new address.
Now for wrestling fans in the Northeast, Saturday night’s big announcement. Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling are the two of the longest continually operating independent professional wrestling promotions in the Northeast. Each December, the two companies have run their biggest events, Cage of Death and the Jersey All Pro Wrestling anniersary show head to head against one another.
Not this year….
Fans from around the country will not have to choose between the two biggest yearly events and will now have a rare chance to attend both back to back on the same day, in the same facility.
As first announced at the CZW “Its Always Bloody in Philadelphia” house show on October 9….in a historic afternoon-evening doubleheader, Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling will together present a “Super Saturday” doubleheader of professional wrestling at the ECW Arena on Saturday, December 11 as Jersey All Pro Wrestling presents part two of its 13th Anniversary celebration and CZW presents its 11th annual year-end tradition, Cage of Death.
The first part of the Jersey All Pro Wrestling 13th Anniversary show will take place on Friday, December 10 (8:00 pm belltime) at the Rahway Recreation Center, 275 East Milton Avenue, Rahway, NJ Highlighted on that show will be the return of Jushin “Thunder” Liger. All Jersey All Pro Wrestling Titles will be defended that night plus Teddy Hart!
Part two takes place on Saturday, December 11th (4:00 pm belltime) at the ECW Arena; as Jersey All Pro Wrestling’s 13th Anniversary show, part two will begin at 4:00 pm that afternoon featuring the return of Jushin “Thunder Liger”, TNA X-Division Champion Jay Lethal, Teddy Hart, Mike Quackenbush, The Briscoe Brothers, The Necro Butcher, JAPW New Jersey State Champion Brodie Lee, Hardcore Nick Gage, JAPW Heavyweight Champion Dan Maff, Eddie Kingston, JAPW Women’s Champion Sara Del Rey, Charlie Haas, JAPW Tag Team Champions Da Heavy Hitters, JAPW Light Heavyweight Champion Bandido, Jr, and many others to be announced.
Tickets for both Jersey All Pro Wrestling events will go on-sale this Monday October 11, 2010 at 9:00 am ET on JAPW.net.
For the sixth straight year, Roger Artigiani and The Arena staff, together with Combat Zone Wrestling will continue their tradition of working together with other local independent wrestling promotions and the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program as both halves of the Super Saturday doubleheader will have Toys for Toys collections at the Arena’s front door for fans attending both shows.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Over the 63 years of the Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made United States Marines the unchallenged leader in looking after less fortunate children at Christmas.
For the last six years, The Arena, its management, Combat Zone Wrestling, and other area independent wrestling promotions have joined in that effort. This year, Jersey All Pro Wrestling fans will be able to join in that effort and make Super Saturday a truly special day; have a special day of wrestling and help a child have a Christmas.
For wrestling fans in the New York/North Jersey area, Mike Johnson, longtime writer of PWinsider.com will be running the first bus trip in many months on Saturday, December 11th to the JAPW Anniversary and CZW Cage of Death doubleheader at The Arena. The trip will be $90, which will include GA tickets to both events and the round trip bus from Queens, Manhattan or Rahway, NJ. Mike can be contacted for more information at WrestlingBusTrips@gmail.com
After Halloween, we’ll all begin the countdown to the Holiday season. As a result, it’s also time for me to call on wrestling promoters (and fans who see notices of these shows) to send me their Holiday related charity events, whether collections of canned food, Toys for Tots toy collections or other charity benefits. Anyone promoting (or who sees notices of such a show), please send them to Send your e-mail to bobmagee1@hotmail.com so I can plug them in this column and on PWBTS.com.
Until next time…
