WWE Universal Championship – “I Quit” Hell in a Cell Match
Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (c) w/ Paul Heyman
If Jey Uso loses this match, he will have to acknowledge Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief and take orders from him. If Uso refuses that, he and his entire family, including Jimmy Uso, will be exiled from the Anoa’i family.
The bell rings, and Uso shouts that Reigns has changed. Reigns says he hasn’t changed. He’s just doing what he has to for the family. They lock up, and Reigns sends him into the ropes for a shoulder block. Reigns gets him to his feet and uppercuts him down. Reigns hits a snap suplex. Uso struggles to get to his feet, and Reigns bounces him off the top turnbuckle. Reigns hits a corner clothesline, and Uso collapses to the mat. Uso gets to his feet and stumbles to the corner. Reigns clotheslines him in the corner again and looks in pity as his cousin struggles to get up. Reigns goes for another corner clothesline, but Uso boots him back. Reigns blocks a big boot, but Uso comes back with an enzuigiri. Uso superkicks him and sends him out of the ring. Uso then hits a suicide dive that drives Reigns into the Hell in a Cell structure.
Uso gets Reigns in the ring and clotheslines him over the top rope. Uso follows up with another suicide dive. Reigns charges, but Uso ducks him and sends him into the wall. Uso sends him into the wall while talking trash. Uso shouts that today is the day Reigns will quit. Uso gets Reigns in the ring and follows him in. Uso goes to charge him, but Reigns stuns him with a Spear. Reigns looks down and looks sorry for Uso. Reigns tells him he should have stayed home. Reigns stomps him and goes to the outside. Reigns goes under the ring and grabs a steel chair. Uso stuns him with a baseball slide and hits the ropes again, but Reigns forearms him back. Reigns gets in the ring, hits the ropes, and CRUSHES Uso with a Spear.

Reigns says he doesn’t want to have to do this. Uso is making him the bad guy. Reigns says he will end him if he gets up. Uso struggles to his feet. Reigns hits the ropes, but Uso knees him in the face and superkicks him down. Uso quickly goes to the top rope and hits an Uso Splash. Uso holds his ribs in pain. Uso struggles to get back to the top rope and hits another Uso Splash.
Uso goes under the ring and grabs a large leather strap. Paul Heyman looks worried at ringside. Uso cranks back and smacks Reigns on the back with the strap. Uso talks some trash and whips Reigns again. Reigns winces in pain. Uso hits him a third time, and Reigns immediately responds with his third Spear of the match! Uso shouts that he can’t breathe. Reigns calmly gets to his feet and grabs the leather strap. Reigns whips Uso and shouts that he’s the one that does the whipping around here. Reigns continues to whip Uso, who shrieks in pain with each slap. Reigns ties the strap around Uso’s wrist and whips him some more. Uso won’t quit.
Reigns pulls Uso up to his feet with the strap around his wrist. Uso holds onto the middle rope and then releases to hit Reigns with a forearm. Reigns hits him back, but Uso continues to punch him back. Uso superkicks him and ducks a Superman Punch. Uso then wraps the strap around Reigns’ neck and is choking him out! Reigns is fading away and the referee is checking on him. Reigns makes a slight burst of a comeback, but Uso squeezes him harder. Reigns is unconscious. The referee checks on Reigns, but cannot end the match because he hasn’t said, “I Quit.” Uso shouts that Reigns quit. The referee says Reigns passed out, but he didn’t quit.
Uso grabs a steel chair and waits for Reigns to regain consciousness. Reigns slowly comes to. Uso goes for a chair shot, but Reigns catches him with a Superman Punch. Reigns applies the guillotine, but Uso won’t quit. Uso instead passes out. Reigns tells him to just say the words. All Uso had to do was acknowledge him. The referee continues to ask Uso, but he’s unresponsive. Reigns angrily drags him to the apron and hits a Drive By Dropkick. Reigns continues to forearm him and yell at him. Reigns puts Uso’s head next to the ring post and sets up the steel steps next to his head. Reigns goes to sandwich Uso’s head into the ring post with the steel steps. Reigns then sandwiches him with a Drive By Dropkick!
The referee is terrified for Uso and goes to call off the match. Reigns stops the referee from calling the match off. The referee shouts that his cousin is unconscious. Reigns throws the referee out of the ring and continues to attack Uso. Adam Pearce and the rest of the WWE officials run down to help out.
Reigns goes outside and tries to throw the steps into the ring, but they bounce off the ropes. Reigns finally gets them in the ring and puts them over Uso’s face. Reigns says he needs to stop testing him. There’s no going back. Reigns will end him. Uso is unconscious. Reigns lifts the steps over his head, but Jimmy Uso runs down and covers his brother. Jimmy asks what Reigns is doing. Jimmy says they can fix the problems with them. Reigns is tearing up and puts his head down. Reigns is crying and buries his head in his hands. Jimmy says this is not the way to handle business. Jimmy extends his hand, and Reigns grabs it. They’re crying… and then Reigns locks Jimmy in the guillotine. Jimmy furiously taps out. Jey comes to and grabs his brother, trying to rip Reigns off him. Jey then quits to save his brother from Reigns.

Reigns stands over his cousins and holds up the Universal Championship. The Wild Samoans Afa and Sika (Reigns’ father) come out to the stage. They embrace Reigns and put a lei around his neck. The Wild Samoans acknowledge Reigns as the Tribal Chief.

Good acting and good storytelling in this, but good grief this went way too long. We're nearly 50 minutes into this show… way too long for a foregone conclusion. Nice to see The Wild Samoans come out. #HIAC

Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and Samoa Joe talk about what they just witness from Roman Reigns.
Elias makes his way to the ring and talks about how Jeff Hardy tried to end his career by hitting him with a car. He survived and wrote an album. Before he pays Hardy his royalties, he’s going to sing a song. Elias sings about Hardy drinking alcohol until Hardy interrupts.

They lock up, and Elias powers him to the corner. Hardy fights out, and they lock up again. Elias knees him, but Hardy fights back with an atomic drop, a snapmare, and a rolling neck snapper for a two count. Hardy applies a hammerlock and clubs the back. Elias gets out and goes for a chin lock, but Hardy fights out and puts the hammerlock back on. Elias fights up and knocks Hardy out of the ring. Elias goes outside and drives him into the barricade. Hardy fights back and sends Hardy into the barricade. Hardy sends him out of the ring and hits a baseball slide. Hardy jumps off the steel steps, but Elias sidesteps him. Hardy barely makes it in before the 10 count.
Elias stomps away at Hardy for a bit and applies a chin lock. Hardy fights out with a jawbreaker. Hardy punches back, hits an inverted atomic drop, and a double leg drop to the midsection. Hardy hits a low dropkick and a big splash for a near fall. Elias quickly sends him to the corner and puts him in the electric chair position. Elias turns him into a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Hardy fights back and boots him back before hitting Whisper in the Wind for a near fall. Hardy gets fired up and goes to the top rope. Elias pulls himself to the apron, so Hardy stands on the ring post. Elias pulls himself out of the ring, and Hardy gets down. Elias grabs his guitar, but Hardy kicks him. Hardy grabs the guitar and smashes it over Elias’ back!

Kayla Braxton is backstage with Otis and Tucker. Otis starts to gyrate, but says The Miz has taken so much from him… and he’s very angry.
Money in the Bank Contract Match
The Miz w/ John Morrison vs. Otis (MITB) w/ Tucker
They lock up, and Otis quickly throws him across the ring. Otis hits a body slam and picks up a two count. Otis scoops him up, but Miz slides off and goes for a Skull Crushing Finale. Otis gets out, and Miz runs to the apron. Otis pulls him in and stomps him. Miz begs Otis off before pulling him out of the ring. Miz goes for a baseball slide, but Otis moves. Otis then clotheslines him down. Otis bounces Miz off the commentary table and puts him in the ring. John Morrison distracts Otis, so Miz hits a kneeling DDT for a near fall.
Miz chokes Otis on the ropes. The referee backs Miz up, so Morrison chokes Otis. Miz hits Otis with his patented corner clothesline and follows up with a diving axe handle for a two count. Otis fights back, but Miz applies a sleeper hold. Otis powers out, but Miz big boots him for a near fall. Miz starts the IT Kicks, but Otis gets fired up. Otis begins to gyrate before punching Miz. Otis hits a clothesline and shoulder tackle before hitting the ropes to turn him inside out with a shoulder block. Otis sends him into the ropes for a flapjack. Otis avalanches Miz in the corner and sets up for a Caterpillar. Morrison pulls Miz out of the ring. Otis follows him out, but Miz gets in the ring. Miz big boots him. Morrison goes to hit Otis with the Money in the Bank briefcase, but the referee catches him. She ejects Morrison from ringside.
Miz rolls Otis up for a near fall. Otis clotheslines Miz down for a near fall. Miz grabs the apron as Otis drags him into the ring and knocks Otis away. Tucker hits Otis in the head with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Miz looks stunned and covers Otis to win.

Kayla Braxton interviews The Miz and John Morrison backstage. Miz says he’s been consistent for 15 years and will bring prestige to the briefcase. Otis took it for granted, just like he took Tucker for granted. Tucker walks up and says it was always about Otis, but that’s over now.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (c)
As Hell in a Cell lowers around them, Banks kicks Bayley’s chair out of the surroundings. Banks tells her to fight on her own. Bayley retreats, but Banks catches her and punches away at her former best friend. Banks applies the Bank Statement, but Bayley gets out of the ring. A kendo stick gets pulled out, and Banks beats Bayley down. Banks then knees her in the head to take her out. Banks grabs a table out from under the ring and sets it up. Bayley attacks her and grabs the table. They have a tug of war with the table, and Banks drives Bayley into the Hell in a Cell wall. Banks then runs off the table and hits a meteora against the Cell. Banks gets her in the ring and hits another meteora off the top rope for a near fall.
Banks grabs a steel chair, but Bayley rolls her up for a near fall. Bayley drops her on the apron and punches her off. Banks lands awkwardly near the table at ringside. Bayley goes to hit her with a chair, but comically misses. Banks goes for a meteora off the apron into the Cell wall. Banks bounces off Bayley and lands HARD on her tailbone. Banks is down for a few moments before getting up and putting Bayley in the ring. Bayley snaps her off the ropes and goes to send her into the wall, but Banks hangs onto the wall. Banks jumps back to the apron and attacks Bayley before hitting a hurricanrana into the cage wall.
Banks goes under the ring and grabs two kendo sticks. Banks wedges the two sticks into the hand holes of the steel steps and the fence wall. Bayley goes for a suplex on the kendo stick bridge, but Banks fights it and charges. Bayley gives her a drop-toe-hold into the sticks. Banks holds her neck in pain. Bayley sets up another kendo stick bridge and hits a guillotine catapult into them. Banks recently recovered from a neck injury caused by Bayley. Bayley gets her in the ring for a two count.

Bayley attacks the neck and applies a chin lock. Bayley hits a neckbreaker for a two count. Bayley and Banks are on the apron. Bayley goes for a swinging back suplex, but Banks fights out. Banks then hits a sunset flip powerbomb off the apron into the Cell wall! Banks gets Bayley in the ring for a two count. Banks sets up a chair and puts Bayley’s head through it, but Bayley gets out and drops her face first onto the chair. Bayley wedges a chair in the corner and whips Banks, but Banks moves. Banks then drives Bayley headfirst into the chair. Bayley avoids an avalanche and hits a sunset flip bomb into the chair. Bayley drags her to the center of the ring and covers, but Banks kicks out. Bayley goes to the top rope for a Flying Elbow Drop, but Banks kicks out again.

Banks fights back and hits a backstabber before applying the Bank Statement. Bayley squirms out and wraps Banks in the ring apron. Bayley slams Banks’ face off the steel frame of the ring and hits her in the back with the kendo stick a few times. Bayley grabs two kendo sticks and some electrical tape. Bayley tapes the ends of the kendo sticks together and makes a bridge from the fence to the ring frame. It doesn’t work out that well. Bayley goes to grab Banks, but Banks sprays a fire extinguisher in her face. Bayley scrambles to the door, but it’s locked shut. She somehow grabs her chair. Banks attacks Bayley and sends her into the wall a few times before hitting a meteora against the wall.
Banks gets Bayley in the ring and grabs a kendo stick. Banks viciously beats Bayley down with the kendo stick and starts crying. Bayley crawls over to the steel chair, but Banks cuts her off. Banks goes to the top rope for a big splash, but Bayley gets the chair up! Both women are down. Bayley rolls out of the ring to recover. Banks goes to grab her, but Bayley slams her down on the floor. Bayley gets her in the ring for a near fall. Bayley angrily throws her out of the ring, goes under, and grabs a ladder. Bayley props the ladder up on two chairs end to end. Bayley attacks Bank and bounces her face off the ladder. Bayley lays her on the ladder and goes back under the ring. Bayley spray paints an “X” on Banks’ midsection. Bayley goes for a Diving Elbow Drop with the chair, but Banks moves. Banks hits a meteora into the corner. Banks hits Bayley-To-Belly onto the ladder for a near fall!
Bayley counters out of a backbreaker and knees her in the face. Bayley connects with a Bayley-To-Belly for a near fall. Banks takes her down and wraps the chair around Bayley’s head as she applies a Bank Statement to get the submission. Bayley’s yearlong title reign is over!

Another match that went a little too long. It was good and intense. Not all the spots worked out, but it was fine. They worked really hard in this one. Not sure if it lived up to the over three year tease for this… but that's a tall order. #HIAC

Charly Caruso is backstage with The Hurt Business. She asks about the challenge made by Mustafa Ali for a member of their stable to face someone from RETRIBUTION. Bobby Lashley is stepping up and putting the United States Championship on the line against Slapjack.

Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Slapjack
Slapjack throws his t-shirt at Lashley and attacks, but Lashley soon overwhelms him. Lashley throws him around and beats on him. Slapjack mounts a comeback and hits a cannonball in the corner for a two count. Lashley fights out of a chin lock, but Slapjack boots him back. Slapjack follows up with a DDT for a two count. Slapjack goes to the top rope, but Lashley throws him off and hits a pair of clotheslines. Lashley connects with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Slapjack charges, but Lashley hits a one-armed spinebuster. Lashley applies a Hurt Lock and Slapjack taps out!
Winner by Submission and still WWE United States Champion: Bobby Lashley
RETRIBUTION immediately gets in the ring and attacks Lashley. Mustafa Ali gets on the apron and directs traffic with T-Bar and Mace. Lashley fights T-Bar and Mace off before The Hurt Business comes down. Lashley hit one of them with a flatliner. RETRIBUTION retreats.

WWE Championship – Hell in a Cell Match
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton
While McIntyre is making his entrance, Orton attacks him from behind. McIntyre quickly fights back at him, and they brawl around the Hell in a Cell before clearing off the commentary table. Orton goes for a back suplex on the table, but McIntyre fights out. McIntyre bounces him off the table cover. They brawl around the structure again. McIntyre knocks Orton into the ring and slams the door shut. The referee locks the door.
The match officially begins. Orton is wearing pants from his disguise. Orton kicks McIntyre at the official start, but McIntyre punches back. They trade blows before McIntyre chops the chest in the corner. Orton goes for an RKO, but McIntyre gets out and clotheslines him over the top rope. McIntyre drives Orton into the cage wall. McIntyre drives him into the wall again and shouts for Orton to tell him how it feels. McIntyre digs Orton’s head into the cage before putting him in the ring for a two count. Orton goes outside, so McIntyre follows and attacks. McIntyre lifts Orton up and drives him into the cage wall twice. McIntyre then turns and drives Orton’s back into the ring post. McIntyre grabs a steel chair and hits Orton in the midsection before smacking it off his back. McIntyre then whips him hard into the wall. McIntyre grabs the steel steps and drives it into Orton’s face. McIntyre throws them, but Orton manages to get out of the way.
Orton is down in the ring. McIntyre gets in and sizes him up. McIntyre goes for a Claymore Kick, but Orton moves and hits him in the knee with the steel chair. Orton hits him again before digging the chair into McIntyre’s jaw, which recently healed from a hairline fracture. Orton covers for a two count. Orton slowly gets him out of the ring and puts McIntyre’s head on the bottom of the steel steps. Orton then stomps his head! McIntyre looks completely out of it. Orton grabs McIntyre’s head and presses it hard against the cage wall. McIntyre screams in pain. Orton removes his pants and wraps them around McIntyre’s head. McIntyre soon tries to fight back, Orton cuts him off and whips him into the other steel steps. Orton stands the larger half of the steel steps up on the end and grabs McIntyre. McIntyre blocks a shot into the steps and head-butts Orton. McIntyre bounces Orton off the steps. Orton manages to fight back and whips McIntyre hard into the standing steel steps.
Orton grabs a table and props it up against the cage wall. Orton gets in the ring, and McIntyre fights back at him with some punches. Orton quickly comes back with an inverted headlock backbreaker, but McIntyre kicks out at one. Orton gets McIntyre to his feet, but McIntyre fights back. Orton whips him to the corner, but McIntyre powers out and hits a clothesline. McIntyre hits another clothesline and an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. McIntyre hits another belly-to-belly suplex and sizes Orton up. McIntyre goes for a Future Shock DDT, but Orton gets out. McIntyre drops him with a jumping neckbreaker and waits for him to get up. McIntyre puts him in a fireman’s carry, but Orton gets out and leaves the ring. McIntyre follows him out, so Orton attacks. Orton charges, but McIntyre grabs him and hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex through the table leaning against the cage wall!
McIntyre grabs Orton’s head and talks some trash before putting him in the ring. As McIntyre steps between the ropes, Orton kicks the middle rope into McIntyre’s groin! Orton drops him with a draping DDT for a one count! Orton goes under the ring and grabs bolt cutters. Orton then cuts the lock off the Hell in a Cell and leaves the structure.
Orton goes to walk up the ramp, but McIntyre follows him out and attacks. McIntyre sends him into the barricade, but Orton soon takes him down. Orton looks at the Hell in a Cell structure and starts to climb. Orton goes to the top of the Hell in a Cell and looks down at the WWE Champion. McIntyre looks up and nods his head. McIntyre thinks about it… and starts to climb!
McIntyre gets to the top of the Hell in a Cell structure and challenges Orton! Orton grabs a steel pipe and swings, but McIntyre takes him down. McIntyre punches away at him on top of the cage. A great camera angle shows Orton pressed against the cage panel. Orton eventually clips McIntyre’s knee with the pipe! Orton starts to climb down from the Hell in a Cell to escape McIntyre. McIntyre follows him off. In the center of the Hell in a Cell are four footholds. Orton bounces McIntyre’s face off the Hell in a Cell wall. They’re hanging precariously above ringside. Orton then knocks him off the Hell in a Cell through the commentary table! Orton is pleased with himself!

McIntyre is bleeding from the mouth as trainers check on him. Orton calmly climbs down and approaches the broken WWE Champion. They take some time to show replays of what happened to McIntyre.
Orton eventually gets McIntyre back inside Hell in a Cell and rolls him into the ring. Orton starts to stalk McIntyre. Orton calmly looks up at the ceiling of the Hell in a Cell structure before getting ready. Orton goes for an RKO, but McIntyre counters into a backslide pin for a two count. McIntyre immediately follows up with a Claymore Kick, but it knocks Orton out of the ring! McIntyre goes outside and powers the unconscious Orton back into the ring. McIntyre sets up in the corner and sizes Orton up. Orton slowly comes to. McIntyre goes for a Claymore Kick, but Orton ducks it! Orton immediately hits an RKO for the win!

That was an EXCELLENT match. Just really great. I really enjoyed it. Randy Orton has really been the MVP of the COVID-19 era of wrestling and he gets his reward. McIntyre has been excellent in his role as well. Had a great year — looking forward to the chase. #HIAC

Overall this was an interesting show. The #HIAC matches definitely delivered. Some of them went a little too long (Reigns/Uso being a champion of going far too long), but nothing was bad at all. The few regular matches in between weren't good, but aside from #MITB it was filler.
