WWE 205 Live results: Oct. 9, 2020: Adonis finally topples Kendrick in epic singles bout
Ashante “Thee” Adonis earned arguably the biggest win of his career when he finally defeated The Brian Kendrick, while Tony Nese assaulted Jake Atlas during Atlas’ match against Ariya Daivari.
Jake Atlas def. Ariya Daivari via disqualification
Jake Atlas looked to be closing in on a hard-earned victory against Ariya Daivari on the historic 200th episode of 205 Live, but his night suddenly took a sharp turn for the worse.
Atlas defeated the 205 Live Original by disqualification, but the win came with a steep price, as he was suddenly ambushed by Tony Nese, who was seemingly seeking vengeance after his recent loss to Atlas.
Sporting a new mean streak, Atlas started the match by trading haymakers with Daivari Dinero and loudly challenging Daivari to strike him in the face.
Daivari eventually slowed the bout to a more methodical pace and took control with a couple of stinging chops that turned his foe’s chest red before following up with a savage DDT for a long two-count.
Atlas had Daivari reeling with a back body drop, a German Suplex and a wicked kick to the jaw, but Daivari narrowly kicked out, and Nese soon bolted to the ring.
Atlas didn’t see it coming, as the former Cruiserweight Champion never broke stride and leveled his rival with a devastating Running Nese. Daivari took advantage of the situation by drilling a defenseless Atlas with his Hammerlock Lariat.
Ashante “Thee” Adonis def. The Brian Kendrick
The third time was indeed the charm for Ashante “Thee” Adonis, as he finally got a victory against The Brian Kendrick after the former Cruiserweight Champion had defeated him twice in recent weeks.
It appeared Adonis has been taking Kendrick’s teachings to heart, as his trash talking was kept to a minimum this week and he seemed to stay focused on securing a win at all costs.
Kendrick landed the first big blow when Adonis got tangled in the ring apron, and The Man With a Plan immediately pounced and chucked him into the ringside plexiglass.
Adonis struck back and landed a crossbody from the top rope and a devastating DDT in rapid selection, but Kendrick caught Adonis flush with a boot to the jaw and quickly locked him in the Captain’s Hook.
Adonis, who tapped out to the submission in the past, forced Kendrick to break the hold by rolling him into a pinning predicament and followed up with a couple of brutal kicks to the head for the 1-2-3.
After the bout, Adonis accepted Kendrick’s handshake.
