Matt Riddle has canceled the petition for a restraining order against rape accuser 36 hours before having to go to court to ask for it.
According to a report by David Bixenspan, Riddle and his lawyer, Daniel J. Rose, requested the voluntary dismissal.
Court records show that Riddle was accusing Candy Cartwright (real name Samantha Tavel) of “committed stalking”, “previously threatened, harassed, stalked, cyberstalked, or physically abused the Petitioner”, “threatened to harm Petitioner or family members or individuals closely associated with Petitioner”, “used, or threatened to use, against Petitioner any weapons such as guns or knives”, and “destroyed personal property, including, but not limited to, telephones or other communication equipment, clothing, or other items belonging to Petitioner.”
Tavel’s lawyer made a motion to dismiss the order, refuting many of Riddle’s claims. Among the claims was an accusation that Tavel had shared Lisa Riddle’s (Matt’s wife) phone number on social media, as well as their home address.
In June 2020 during the Speaking Out movement, Tavel accused Riddle of sexual assault, detailing an incident that happened in 2018. Riddle denied the claims, but did admit to cheating on his wife with Tavel in consensual meetings.
