WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco revealed on Twitter that he was released from WWE last night, after spending 36 years with the company. Brisco noted that Vince McMahan called him, and that he is ok his release. Brisco also went on to say that he will be around to help talent, and that more information will follow.
We reported back in April that Brisco was furloughed by WWE during cuts that happened as part of the cost cutting measures in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, he confirmed he had been furloughed and not released.
Brisco had been scouting talent for WWE and had been with the company since 1984.
He and his brother Jack sold their shares of Georgia Championship Wrestling to Vince McMahon in giving Vince McMahon that promotion a timeslot then the Turner owned Superstation WTBS in Atlanta, Georgia.
Over the years, Brisco worked as an agent and has been one of Vince McMahon’s closest friends and associates. One of his most popular roles on WWE television was during the Attitude Era, as one of Vince’s “stooges” with WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson.
Brisco was last seen on WWE Television back on July 22, 2019 which was the Raw Reunion show where he won the 24/7 Championship.
