WWE announced last night that they have “mutually and amicably” agreed to part ways with NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo.
“WWE and Mauro Ranallo have mutually and amicably agreed to part ways. Mauro’s passion and enthusiasm left an indelible and exciting mark with WWE and its fans, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
According to F4WOnline, Ranallo, who had been absent from NXT broadcasts, reportedly has been in British Columbia to be with his mother who has been hospitalized. Ranallo is said to be looking for a less stressful schedule, though during the pandemic he has been working from his home studio in Santa Monica, California, rather than flying into Orlando, Florida.
Ranallo would also make the announcement on his Facebook page:
“I appreciate the opportunity I had to realize my childhood dream of working in sports entertainment, and I wish WWE well in the future. Now I want to direct my focus and devote my time to my other projects and to my mental health charitable activities and the well-being of my mother and myself.”
Ranallo will continue to work with Showtime and Bellator.
Corey Graves replaced Ranallo at NXT TakeOver XXX. Wade Barrett (Stu Bennett) replaced him this past Wednesday on NXT and will appear on NXT Super Tuesday tonight as well. Barrett is negotiating with WWE on a full-time deal as an announcer.
