One story making the rounds online following the WrestleMania 36 tapings back in March was Vince McMahon had to show a timid Rob Gronkowski how to safely jump off a platform during a planned spot.
That story has been confirmed as true and was documented by WWE cameras.
In the video (above), a nervous Gronkowski is shown looking over the platform and standing on the edge, but not taking the jump into the crash pad. In an interview, Kevin Owens chuckles and imitates McMahon telling Gronkowski to get on with it. Eventually, McMahon himself gets on the ledge and easily leaps off, giving Gronkowski the courage to finally do it.
The spot aired on Night Two of WrestleMania 36. Gronkowski leapt off the platform onto a number of wrestlers and won the WWE 24/7 Championship. Gronkowski held the title until the June 1 episode of Raw. Gronkowski would reportedly leave the WWE shortly after to return to the NFL as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This video will air on Sunday, August 22 following SummerSlam as part of WWE 24: WrestleMania – The Show Must Go On on the WWE Network.
