Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer Dominic DeNucci has been hospitalized with heart issues.
Bobby Fulton first made the announcement on his Twitter account and the news was later confirmed by multiple outlets. DeNucci’s family released a statement to the Two Man Power Trip Podcast about his condition:
Dominic was admitted to the hospital on Friday after experiencing some very minor health issues, including fatigue. After tests concluded DeNucci had slight stenosis of the aorta, the doctors decided to perform a routine heart catheterization to insert a stent into the narrowed artery. That procedure was successfully performed earlier [on Monday] and Dominic is resting comfortably. His daughter and son-in-law, Danielle & George Cassel, are with him and report that he is in great spirits and feeling much better. They asked that their heartfelt thanks be extended to all of Dominic’s friends and fans around the world.
The 88-year-old DeNucci had a 54 year career that started in 1958 and ended in 2012. During that time, DeNucci wrestled for many promotions, mainly winning tag team titles. In the WWWF, he was the International Tag Team Champion with Bruno Sammartino, as well as World Tag Team Champion with Victor Rivera (with Pat Barrett as a replacement partner) and Dino Bravo. DeNucci also won the AWA United States Championship.
DeNucci is well known as a professional wrestling trainer, having trained such stars as Mick Foley, Shane Douglas, Brian Hildebrand, and Moondog Spot.
