Update: WWE announced on Twitter that the show will proceed with no audience in attendance at the Performance Center.
WWE has officially canceled the March 13 episode of SmackDown in Detroit, Michigan. The event will instead be held at the WWE Performance Center.
Here is the full statement from WWE:
“Friday Night SmackDown on March 13 will air live as regularly scheduled and emanate from WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida with only essential personnel in attendance. The event was originally scheduled in Detroit, Michigan.”
As news of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continued to come out, it was reported last night that WWE had canceled the event and moved it to the Performance Center. WWE would later push back at those reports, saying the show was still on in Detroit and they had contingency plans in place. Those contingency plans have been put into effect with only essential personal being at the Performance Center.
PWInsider reports the event is currently scheduled to take place without fans, but that could change.
John Cena, the returning Jeff Hardy, and Paige are all scheduled to be on the show. We will have full coverage tomorrow starting at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 Central.
