WWE creative is said to be very happy with the “Lay-Cool” pairing of Layla and Michelle McCool on Smackdown. There was said to be a few people upset at the fact that TNA was able to create The Beautiful People and make WWE’s women’s division look weak in comparison. The feeling now is the creation of Lay-Cool is now better and more popular than The Beautiful People and, for all intents and purposes, is a direct copy of that same gimmick. In a related note, on a recent Smackdown a promo was taped where Layla and McCool mentioned how they ran Mickie James out of the WWE, but a decision was made later by Vince McMahon to pull it because he didn’t want James’ name to be mentioned on the air anymore.
