Former ECW star Tracy Smothers announced on Facebook that he is battling lymphoma.
Smothers, 57, announced that he is on his third treatment of chemotherapy to shrink the growing tumors. Smothers was also told that he has blockage in his artery, causing his heart to operate at 45% less than a normal heart does. Smothers also stated that he was told he had a heart attack some time ago, but he never knew.
Smothers was told that his doctors stated this form of leukemia should not be fatal for him.
Smothers began his career in 1982 and wrestled in WCW, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and WWF, but found his greatest success in Extreme Championship Wrestling as a member of the Full Blooded Italians. He would go on to hold the ECW Tag Team Championships with Little Guido. Smothers continues to wrestle on the independent circuit.
On behalf of the staff of Wrestleview, we would like to wish a speedy recovery for Tracy Smothers as he deals with this illness.
