AEW posted to a medical update to Twitter on the condition of Cody after he took a nasty bump on the entrance ramp from an attempted Suicide Dive on Chris Jericho that went wrong when Jericho moved out of the way.
Cody ended up getting busted open and start to bleed very badly. Dr. Sampson was able to get most of the bleeding to stop and the match then continued.
According to the update, Cody ended up with eight stiches above his right eye and a Costochondral separation, also known as a rib separation, usually occurs after a direct impact to the chest.
A Costochondral separation is due when one or more ribs become separated from the costochondral joint (made from cartilage) which is also attached to the breastbone.
Chris Jericho retained the AEW Championship after MJF threw in the towel and then turned heel on Cody following the ending of the match.
You check out the post below from AEW below showing the laceration and stitches above Cody’s right eye, and the clip of the bump Cody took on the ramp.
