Current AEW Champion Chris Jericho appeared in a video package Sunday Morning during New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle event, issuing a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi for a match at Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Jericho’s challege came after the tag team match where Kota and Ibushi and Tanahashi defeated Kazuchika Okada and YOSHI-HASHI.
As Ibushi and Tanahashi were celebrating in the ring, a video aired showing someone vaguely looking like Tanahashi rocking out to his theme song. Jericho, then emerged on the video screen wearing his Painaker outfit, challenging Tanahashi to a match at night two of Wrestle Kingdom, which will take place on January 5, 2020.
Jericho warned Tanahashi that this would be his last match. Tanahashi accepted the challenge.
It should also be noted that there was no mention by the commentary team of All Elite Wrestling, and that Jericho’s current AEW contract allows him to work dates with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
