Shannon Rose, a longtime wrestling personality and ring announcer on the Florida independent circuit, passed away on Friday, July 5.
He was 44 years old.
Rose had dealt with muscular dystrophy for much of his life. In a Facebook post announcing his passing, his family said he was “constantly defying scientific boundaries associated with MS” and he served “as a constant reminder of God’s miraculous strength that is within us ALL”.
Rose became involved in the Florida wrestling scene after meeting Gordon Solie and Dusty Rhodes at the age of 12 through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They would later give him a shot at ring announcing.
Through the years, he stayed involved in wrestling, ring announcing and handling the promotion for a number of companies. Rose would also host a local access television show talking about professional wrestling and hosted a radio show for years. Rose also had his own public relations company named Eclectic Media Productions. As his profile increased, he was cast as a ring announcer for an MMA game created by EA Sports.
Rose’s legacy will live on through the many opportunities he gave to people starting out in wrestling and radio, including former Wrestleview Editor-in-Chief Adam Martin.
