We previously reported that WWE Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” Brian James recently informed the company he was resigning from his position as the co-lead writer of Smackdown Live.
It was originally being said that James had been frustrated for some time over an excessive amount of changes that was being made to the script of Smackdown Live.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson at PWInsider, James will be taking an extended break and is still considered to be with WWE. All involved are assessing the situation to see where he may fit in going forward.
Also as per the same report, James was not in Montreal this past week for the television tapings, and that Ryan Ward headed up the creative team at this past Tuesday’s WWE Smackdown Live taping which included the responsibilities usually overseen by James.
It is not known at this time how long James will be away from the company, with no timetable of when he plans to make a scheduled return.
