WWE Smackdown Live kicks off with The New Day coming out to the ring. There’s a massive rainbow made out of balloons which goes from one side of the ring to the other. A loud “Kofi” chant followed by a “You deserve it” from the crowd. Big E says he’s not sure if we heard but at Wrestlemania, a man who made millions of members of the WWE universe cry tears of joy. A man who is an A+ player with extra credit. That man, Kofi Kingston broke the vegan cheeks off Daniel Bryan and became the new WWE world heavyweight champion.
Big E says they showed up on Raw to make history. Xavier jokes if it’s the split that Big E hit. Big E gets hyped and does the splits. Big E jokes and says no, not the splits. He’s talking about the fact that Kofi was close to becoming a dual world champion, much like the man Becky Lynch!
And as much fun as that would have been, it’s much more fun being on the blue brand. Throughout the years, we’ve gotten to know them for their humor. But tonight isn’t about the nonsense, it’s about the most important celebration.
Xavier Woods says we are here to celebrate the career of a man they are honored to call their friend and their brother. The career of Kofi Kingston. Xavier says he remembers watching Kofi debut but being able to follow his whole career is incredible. And when he made it to WWE and got to meet him, it was like meeting one of his heroes. Big E says what makes it extra special is because they got this together. They re-change culture and history. And on Sunday at Wrestlemania, that’s exactly what Kofi did. Woods says on behalf of himself, Big E and what sounds like every single person in the arena and every single person in the WWE Universe, “Kofi, we love you and congratulations.”
Kofi Kingston says he’s at a loss for words. He says this is an impossible moment. It wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn’t in the script, it wasn’t in the cards. But here we are. And he has to give a special shout out to his family. Kofi points to them as they are in the crowd. Kofi says that they inspire him to be the best father, husband and role model he can be. They supported him unconditionally since day 1 and thank you.
Just as he says that, The Bar’s music hits. Sheamus says he owes them a big thank you for saving him last night because Seth was mopping the floor with them. And had it not been for them, Seth would have his championship. Sheamus says Kofi almost lost his title in his first defense and it’s not because he’s a B+ player but it’s because he didn’t have Big E and Woods beside him.
Cesaro says why not have a 6 man tag team match. Big E says he’s fine but their math doesn’t add up. They are 3 and they are 2 people. Cesaro says their math isn’t off because when they went to Raw, they made a new friend.
Drew McIntyre’s music hits and out comes Drew. He stands alongside The Bar.

A fun opening segment. Very surprised to see McIntyre there. Not sure if I prefer him on Raw or Smackdown but he has to be holding one of the two main title's (WWE championship or Universal) by the end of the year. #SDLive

In comes Randy Orton who hits Ali with an RKO.
Kevin Owens gets in the ring and hits the stunner on Rusev.
Backstage, in come the Smackdown tag team champions The Usos. They are asked about their match against the Hardy Boyz tonight. They interrupt and say congrats to Kofi Kingston. Wrestlemania came and it’s gone but they are still champions. They say that they need to win. They never fought the Hardy Boyz. It’s more than just titles on the line, it’s about proving who’s the best brother tag team. No, it’s about who the best tag team is in WWE history.
Not entirely sure what they are doing with Andrade but he should be feuding for a title. Perhaps for the Intercontinental title? I'd keep him on Smackdown and send Balor to Tuesday's. Not a bad match but Ricochet and Black must be tired. Doing double duty for weeks. #SDLive

R-Truth is in the ring with Carmella. R-Truth says what’s up is that the man Becky Lynch is the Raw and Smackdown women’s champion. And Kofi is WWE chamion. And at Wrestlemania, not only did we have the world’s largest 7 second dance break, we also had Carmella defeat Andre the Giant in the Royal Rumble match. Carmella says it was the women’s battle royal. Truth says they said the same thing.
Carmella mentions that one year ago, she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and became Smackdown women’s champion. But a lot has changed since that happened. She lost a title but gained a friend. A friend that reminded her to smile and let loose again. She tells Truth she couldn’t have done it without him. And winning was just the first step and she sees big things in her future.
Samoa Joe’s music hits and out comes the United States champion.
Joe gets in the ring and R-Truth kicks Joe in the stomach. He goes for a kick but Joe moves out of the way and gets Truth in the Coquina Clutch. He throws Truth to the outside and asks for a microphone. Joe says he destroyed Rey Mysterio in under 60 seconds at Wrestlemania. But use this as a warning because it might take him less time to destroy another superstar in WWE.
Braun Strowman appears on Smackdown Live
Braun Strowman’s music hits and he charges to the ring. Strowman with a right hand. He gets Joe in the corner and a splash by Strowman. He goes for another but Joe kicks him. Joe gets on the ropes and gets Strowman in the Coquina Clutch. Strowman backs up and the Clutch is broken up. Strowman goes to pick up Joe but struggles as Joe gets out of it and slides to the outside of the ring.
I'm here for a Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe feud. #SDLive

The new WWE women’s tag team champions the IIconics are in the ring. Peyton Royce says that two nights ago at Wrestlemania they defied all odds. They emerged with the championships. When people win titles, they talk a lot about being fighting champions. Peyton says but they don’t just talk, they walk. And they will defend their championships, anytime, anywhere against any tag team. And that’s why tonight, they have arranged their first title match to be against the best tag team they can find in Brooklyn. With an undefeated record of 45-0, welcome Karissa and Kristen, The Brooklyn Belles.

Shane McMahon’s music hits and he gets in the ring. The best tag team trophy. Shane says it’s been a big week and mentions Wrestlemania. He says Kofi won the WWE champion and Becky Lynch became the new women’s champion. But why did over 80,000 people jam Metlife Stadium? Because they wanted to see Shane McMahon defeat The Miz. Shane says that The Miz is not there tonight.
Shane says the Miz’s dad had the audacity to get in the ring and he aggressively put his hands up. And after that, Mr. Miz hit him in the eye. The fans chant “You deserve it” to Shane.
McMahon says The Miz’s dad deserves it because he had no choice but to defend himself. And he had to do what he did. As far as he is concerned, that 68 year old baked-potato face and his son got exactly what they had coming to them. They found out that he is what he says he is. And that is the best in the world. A loud “CM Punk” chant from the crowd.
Shane says “Please” and asks Craig Hamilton, the ring announcer, to get in the ring. Shane said when he was getting introduced to the ring tonight, there was a slight stutter. What happened? Hamilton said when he got to the arena tonight, several WWE fans were threatening him. Saying that if he called him the best in the world, something bad would happen. Shane says he’s fearful, they’re in Brooklyn and that happens. But it’s the best city in the world and it’s the best city because the best in the world lives here. But Hamilton never has to worry about anyone doing anything to him but he has to worry about him. Shane grabs Hamilton and says it’s important and to do it with conviction and pride.
McMahon stands next to the trophy as Hamilton introduces him. Shane cuts him off and says it’s not good enough. It’s not the Wrestlemania one. Hamilton tries it again and once more Shane cuts him off. Shane says they have a live show to do. He grabs Hamilton by his tie and brings him to the outside of the ring. And to try again. Once more, Shane says no.
They go up the ramp. Shane says it’s his last chance to get it right and if not, the ramifications will not be good. Hamilton introduces Shane McMahon once more. Shane fixes Hamilton’s tie and tells him good job and to continue. Shane leaves to the back while Hamilton goes back to the ring.
They show highlights of last night’s Raw where The Undertaker attacked Elias.
I guess we will continue to get Shane as an active member of the roster? How does everyone feel about that? #SDLive

The new Raw and Smackdown women’s champion Becky Lynch comes down to the ring. She stands with the Smackdown title around her waist and the Raw title on her shoulder.
The fans continue to sing Becky’s song. Becky says they have the voices of angels. What a week as the fans chant “Becky”. She says on Sunday she did exactly what she said she would do and overcame Ronda and Charlotte in the main event of Wrestlemania. And in doing so, she became Becky two belts. The fans start to chant “Becky Two Belts”.
We see a clip of last night’s Raw where Lacey Evans punched her and the two fought.
Becky says Lacey finally decided to get her hands dirty and that punch reminded her that she has two titles and she’ll be pulling double duty. And she knows there is a tsunami of challenges coming to the man and to that she says to bring on every last one of them. Because she wants to make this the most talked about run in all of WWE. And if she has to beat all of them, take more beatings, sleep with one eye open for the rest of her career, she will. Because she walked through hell to get the titles.
Lynch walks up the ramp and poses with the belts. Lacey Evans attacks her and punches her in the face.
I'd love to see Lynch feud with someone and just have Lacey Evans attack her or distract her during matches. Lynch having two titles leaves the door open for many different feuds and possible opponents. #SDLive

An enjoyable Smackdown with a few surprise appearance by the guys from Raw. The superstar shake-up is next week. I'll probably be attending both shows. My guess is The Usos to Raw, Balor to Smackdown, Samoe Joe to Raw. #SDLive
