FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier was part of a presentation to media at the 2019 Television Critics Association this week and addressed WWE programming.
Smackdown, which will premiere on FOX this October, was described as being the first change in replacing FOX comedies on Friday night.
Collier added that Smackdown on Friday night would be a “short-term”, leaving the possibility that it could be shifted to another night. The show is still expected to remain live when it premieres on the broadcast network later this fall.
In something that has been heavily rumored up until this point, Collier confirmed that “other” WWE programming would be featured on the Fox Sports 1 cable outlet. While nothing has been announced, the expectation was that WWE would be getting a show similar to the former “UFC Tonight” that would highlight programming. Of course, NXT programming could also become a potential option should FOX have interest.
