According to an article by the Celebrity News Service News Writer, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are under fire for a skit about Hawaii on last week’s episode. The skit featured Johnson and SNL cast member Fred Armisen in aloha skirts and grass skirts serenading tourists at a restaurant. One of Johnson’s lines were, “Our biggest export? Coffee. And our biggest import? Fat white tourists.” The state’s tourism officials and Lt. Governor Duke Aiona are denouncing the skit adding, “While I always appreciate a good laugh, ‘Saturday Night Live’ went too far in its negative depiction of Hawaii’s native people and tourism industry. During these critical economic times, when tourism dollars are scarce, we cannot let such distortions go unchecked.” To check out the full article, click here.
