Joey Ryan on training, working in WWE

Andy Steven sent this recap in:

March, 26, 2009 – Former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion and Tag Team Champion, Joey Ryan, who is also a former NWA World Tag Team Champion and appeared for WWE several times as well as working for the short-lived MTV promotion Wrestling Society X, recently took some time out of his scheduled to speak with http://www.PWMania.com. He spoke on several topics from how he started his career in wrestling, PWG, working in WWE, and much more. Below are some highlights:

On breaking into the business: I started wrestling in 2000 with Jesse Hernandez’s Empire Wrestling Federation and went on to Rick Bassman’s Ultimate Pro Wrestling in 2001 and grew from there. Lately I have been traveling the world applying my craft and becoming a world famous superstar in the process.

On his training: At Jesse Hernandez’s I trained a lot with Bobby Bradley, then at UPW I trained with Brian Kendrick and Tom Howard and I later went on to the Inoki USA Dojo to train with Bryan Danielson.

On working in WWE: My personal favorite match was with Sylvan, but all those guys are super cool. None of them tried to big league me.

WWE’s backstage atmosphere: Like a business, but a fun business. I mean, I’m sure everybody there is more happy doing that then they would be bagging groceries for a living. Not that bagging groceries is a bad thing if that is your calling.

Joey also speaks on working with MTV’s Wrestling Society X, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and more. You can read the complete interview at http://www.pwmania.com/interviews.php?page=joeyryan.
