During last night’s RAW in Grand Rapids, GM Kurt Angle announced that WWE officials have determined who will become the next challenger for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV on July 15.
Angle confirmed a multi-man match with Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley being confirmed as the first two competitors. WWE is advertising the match with four more open spots. More names are expected to be added in the coming weeks.
While not officially announced by WWE, the belief was that Lesnar was scheduled to defend the Universal Championship at SummerSlam in what could end up being his final appearance for the company. UFC President Dana White recently stated that Lesnar’s deal with WWE was set to expire at the end of the summer.
