Steven Muehlhausen passed along comments by Alberto El Patron addressing last week’s incident where he no-showed the Impact vs. Lucha Underground event in New Orleans at WrestleCon that was streaming live on Twitch.
Patron claims a family situation prevented him from making the appearance.
“I had a family situation that I needed to attend (to). As you know, my family, my kids are my priority. The situation was involving them and that’s why I decided to take care of business and take care of my family situation. And that’s all that happened. And that comes to what I was just saying to you. I know people wanted to know absolutely everything. This only concerns my family: my parents, my sister, myself and my kids. And that’s the way it’s going to stay.”
As reported on earlier, Impact announced they had parted ways with Patron on Saturday night a day after the the special aired live on Twitch. Not long later, Impact announced a new main event for the upcoming Redemption PPV on April 22.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Patron’s previous deal with the company was set to expire the day before the Redemption PPV. Patron was said to be in ongoing negotiations with the company about renewing his deal.
