We go live to Phoenix. Renee Young is standing in the ring and introduces the WWE Champion AJ Styles. Styles walks out to a big reaction.
AJ Styles kicks off Smackdown Live
Young talks about the Fastlane triple threat match turning into a fatal five way. The crowd in Phoenix starts up a loud “AJ STYLES” chant. Styles gets up on the corner and gives the crowd a salute. Young brings up the disadvantage he has heading into WrestleMania.
Styles feels he is still in control of his own destiny and looks up at the WrestleMania sign. He says the fatal five way could still be a big problem. Styles points out the commentary table at ringside and how it would feel good to put Kevin Owens through that. He said the problem with that is Dolph Ziggler could pin Sami Zayn in the ring and he could lose his title. Styles then points out the ring steps and how they are perfect for Zayn. He again points out Ziggler is then pinning Owens and he’s no longer WWE Champion. Styles says he can take them all one-on-one, running down Owens, Zayn, Ziggler and Corbin.
Baron Corbin walks out to interrupt. He wants to stop Styles before he makes a fool of himself. Corbin points out he beat Styles the last time they faced off. He says Styles might be an athlete, but he’s a fighter. Corbin will either pin Styles or someone else.
Here comes Kevin Owens to interrupt. He came out here to shut them both up. Owens says Styles should worry about getting put through an announce table with a Pop Up Powerbomb. He tells Corbin he doesn’t belong anywhere near that WWE Title match.
Styles says Owens looks great and wonders where the boil on his back went. Owens asks what he’s talking about. Styles says the boil was known as Sami Zayn. Owens fake laughs and says Styles is quite the comedian these days.
AJ Styles attempting comedy in his promo tonight… #SDLive pic.twitter.com/lfaNAcTv3K

Here comes Shane McMahon to interrupt. He says we are hearing a lot of talk, but that’s not what Phoenix wants. Shane books Corbin vs. Styles tonight in the main event. He then books Owens against Dolph Ziggler and that match is up right now.
Dolph Ziggler walks out and Owens walks up arguing with Shane.
Pretty weak opener tonight, the writers really tried to cram in too much with AJ Styles tonight, Baron Corbin also came off really weak on the mic, Corbin is just super hit and miss these days #SDLive

He calls Roode an egomaniac and a liar.
WWE United States Champion Bobby Roode walks out laughing saying that certainly was his list. He does have a secret on Mahal. Roode says Mahal can’t even make a top 10 list and more importantly, Mahal wants to be United States Champion so bad, he’s willing to pit Randy Orton against him. Another very average talking segment involving Jinder Mahal, Bobby Roode and Randy Orton, I get they are building to a #USTitle match at #WWEFastlane but yikes…that one dragged much like the opener #SDLive

Overall, a pretty average effort tonight, the in-ring action was very solid, #WWE sure does seem very lazy with the writing of this show when it comes to the talking segments, those just dragged like no other #SDLive
