A commercial for John Morrison’s DVD airs and my friend Lisa is in it for holding a ?John Morrison Rocks? sign! Nice going Lisa!
We see footage of the end of the Mysterio/Punk match followed by the beat down by the Straight Edge Society.
Drew McIntyre has a new entrance as he comes to the ring. Remember when The Rock turned heel in 2003 and had that long video before he made his entrance? This is very similar to that? except the song is really dull and boring. It’s like having your entrance song performed by Enya.
McIntyre said when he heard he was in a match tonight he told the booker he doesn?t care who the opponent is because he’s the Intercontinental Champion. He’s undefeated and, most importantly, unstoppable. Kane’s pyro hits so we?ll put that to the test. McIntyre says he has nothing to prove to Kane. Since he dropped him last week he doesn?t want him now. McIntyre says if Kane wants a match he can have one next week.

It lands on Vickie Guerrero and she screams. Mickie walks away while McCool and Layla pick the cheese off her.

I thought we were done with this stuff? Where’s the follow up with Beth Phoenix?
We?ll hear an explanation from Batista about his actions as of late next.
-Commercial Break-
We take a look back at Batista’s attack of Bret Hart and then John Cena from Raw two weeks ago. Batista viciously beat John Cena around the ring before hitting a nasty looking Batista Bomb on the steel steps. Then last week on Smackdown he walked out of a match that had he won would have put him into the Elimination Chamber. What is going on with Batista? Apparently we?ll find out tonight.
Josh Mathews is in the ring and he introduces Batista. Batista comes to the ring with the spotlight on him. Mathews wants to know what provoked him to attack John Cena and then walk out of a match last week on Smackdown. Mathews holds the microphone in Batista’s face and Batista takes the microphone from his hand. Batista stares at Josh and he quickly gets out of the ring. The crowd chants for ?Cena? but he’s not there. Batista walks around the ring and sits on the top turnbuckle. Batista goes to speak but instead walks out of the ring. Batista walks around ringside before staring at a guy in a John Cena shirt. Batista gets back in the ring and goes to talk but instead drops the microphone. Batista goes to the back while the fans boo him.
Batista yells and goes back to the ring to give an explanation. Batista grabs the microphone and drops it again. Batista kicks it to the floor and leaves the ring. That was a great segment and all he said was ?You want an explanation?.
Still to come we?ll see R-Truth take on John Morrison. We?ll also see Chris Jericho take on the Undertaker in a No DQ match.
WrestleMania is 44 days away!
-Commercial Break-
Teddy Long, Smackdown’s General Manager, comes out to the stage. Long says Batista refused to compete in his match last week and tonight he refused to give an explanation for his actions. Since he doesn?t feel like talking then maybe he?ll feel like competing against the 2010 Royal Rumble winner Edge next week on Smackdown. That?ll be Edge’s first singles match in seven months.
The Great Khali and Matt Hardy come to the ring. Hardy wishes everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day in advance. Hardy says his partner, the Punjabi Playboy, always has a great Valentine’s Day. Hardy says he?ll have the best Valentine’s Day ever this year with his Valentine Maria. Maria comes to the ring.
The Great Khali & Matt Hardy vs. The Hart Dynasty
My favorite referee in the whole world Charles Robinson is the official. It?ll be Khali starting out against David Hart Smith. Smith immediately tags in Tyson Kidd and bails from the ring. Kidd is brought into the ring the hard way and Hardy is tagged in. Hardy punches him down and hits a clothesline in the corner. Smith provides a distraction and Kidd hits a dropkick. Smith is tagged in and he hits a delayed vertical suplex for a two count. Smith smashes the face off the turnbuckle and tags in Kidd, who hits a snapmare and dropkicks him in the head for a two count. Kidd locks on a chin lock and screams wildly. Hardy fights up but Kidd kicks him. Kidd then runs into a Side Effect.
Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate but Smith distracts the referee and Natalya sweeps Hardy’s feet. Maria attacks Natalya on the outside. Kidd rolls Hardy up but Hardy rolls through and gets the pin.
Winners by Pinfall: The Great Khali & Matt Hardy
Match Rating: ? *
?The Million Dollar Man? Ted DiBiase’s Hall of Fame video plays. It’s about time. Everybody has a price, baby! His theme song ruled.
-Commercial Break-
The Raw Rebound plays. That final segment with Vince McMahon, John Cena, and Bret Hart was absolute gold. Like I said last night this is the most excited I?ve been about a WrestleMania build since 2005.
Todd Grisham thanks Cypress Hill for the use of ?Rise Up,? the official theme song of Elimination Chamber. They then run down the card.
We see footage of the Straight Edge Society’s attack on Rey Mysterio from earlier tonight following that fantastic match.
R-Truth takes on John Morrison next.
-Commercial Break-
R-Truth asks the crowd ?WHO DAT.? That gets a good pop deep in Saint’s country. I was happy for them.
R-Truth vs. John Morrison
The match begins and they shake hands. They lock up and Morrison gets a side headlock. R-Truth whips him off and takes a shoulder block. Morrison goes into the ropes, over and under R-Truth, and tries to roll over his back but looks to have tweaked his ankle. The referee stops the match and awards it to R-Truth.
Winner by Referee’s Decision: R-Truth
Match Rating: N/A
The trainer comes out and R-Truth helps him to the back.
Still to come we?ll see Undertaker take on Chris Jericho in a non-title match.
-Commercial Break-
NXT comes in two weeks.
Tony Chimel introduces the 2010 winner of the Royal Rumble Edge! Edge comes to the ring to a great pop. Edge says he’s out to talk about the benefits of winning the Royal Rumble. The benefit everyone looks past means he doesn?t have to compete in the Elimination Chamber. Edge says that match is about absorbing pain. It’s unpredictable. The only prediction he can make is he?ll face the winner of that. He could end up facing his old buddy from Rated RKO Randy Orton. He could face the guy he faced last year at WrestleMania John Cena. On the flip side he could face the winner of the Smackdown Chamber. Maybe Rey Mysterio or the love child of Brutus ?The Barber? Beefcake and Charles Manson, CM Punk. He could potentially face any of the twelve superstars.
There’s only one that stands out of the pack ? only one guy who is undefeated at WrestleMania. That man is the Undertaker. Edge says it’s out of his hands on who he will face at WrestleMania. There is one match that he knows will take place. Next week on Smackdown he?ll face Batista. Edge starts talking but he’s interrupted by?
Chris Jericho. Jericho makes his way to the ring with a sour look on his face. Jericho says he finds it ironic and strange that Edge never mentioned him as a possible opponent at WrestleMania. Jericho says he understands that Edge doesn?t like him and that’s because he’s a bad luck charm for Edge. When Jericho is around, bad things happen. Jericho was there the night he tore his Achilles Tendon, watching him writhe in pain, screaming. Jericho was also there seven months later at the Royal Rumble. Jericho says he doesn?t know what it’s like to make a triumphant return from an injury because he doesn?t get injured. Jericho simply wins championships and carries the company on his back. Jericho doesn?t get injured because he’s the best in the world at what he does.
Jericho gives him advice to save grief and pick the winner of the Raw Elimination Chamber match. Jericho tells him to stay away from him because in nine days he?ll win the Smackdown Chamber, guaranteed. Jericho warns him to stay away because if Edge continues to antagonize him then bad things will happen once again. Jericho says if Edge or any of us liars doubt him then watch tonight when he beats the Undertaker, the same man who destroyed Edge two years ago at WrestleMania.
The GONG hits and the Undertaker makes his way to the ring for this non-title, no disqualification bout. The match is next.

Edge is on commentary watching. Undertaker kicks Jericho in the back of the head and punches him. Undertaker then gets on the apron and drops the leg.
Undertaker drives Jericho into the barricade before throwing him into the ring. Taker stomps and punches Jericho. Taker wrenches the arm and works over it, dropping a leg on it for a one count. Undertaker then goes of Old School and Jericho crotches him on the top rope. Jericho punches and hits a beautiful superplex for a near fall on the Deadman. Jericho stomps Undertaker and chokes him with his foot. Jericho locks on a chin lock but Undertaker quickly gets out with a bunch of rabbit punches.
Jericho punches but Undertaker quickly comes back with some ‘soup bones.? Undertaker sends Jericho to the corner and avalanches him. Undertaker hits Snake Eyes and a nice big boot. Undertaker drops the leg, brother, for a near fall. Undertaker signals for the Chokeslam. Jericho sees this and gets out of the ring. Jericho yells at Edge and Undertaker comes from behind with a club. Undertaker now stares at Edge, who gets to his feet. Undertaker then tries to throw Jericho into Edge but Edge moves. Edge and Undertaker go face to face.
Undertaker throws Jericho into the ring and hits a big boot on Edge! Jericho hits a DDT on the Undertaker as he comes back in for a near fall. Jericho stomps and punches Undertaker before removing the top turnbuckle pad. Jericho turns into a Chokeslam attempt but Jericho gets off and rolls him up. Undertaker kicks out at two, sending Jericho face first into that exposed turnbuckle! Undertaker then hits the Last Ride Powerbomb and turns into a Spear from Edge! Edge gets out of the ring as the audience doesn?t quite know how to react to that. Edge is cut, presumably from the big boot. Undertaker gets up and picks Jericho up. Jericho drops him with the Codebreaker out of nowhere for the win!

Match of the Night: Mysterio vs. Punk ***
Mike’s Thoughts
This was a tremendous edition of Smackdown highlighted by a great segment and some really good matches. The show opened up with a bang right away with CM Punk and Rey Mysterio going head to head. They straight up worked their butts off in this match. They went all out and put on an awesome show. The rumor is that this might be a WrestleMania match with a Mask vs. Hair stipulation. That?d be awesome. If this match is any indication then this could be a tremendous WrestleMania undercard match.
We then went to Drew McIntyre taking on Kane. I?m not sure how I feel about Drew McIntyre’s new ring entrance. I think it needs to grow on me. The match itself was more of a brawl but it was fun. I?m wondering if Kane will fight for the title heading into WrestleMania because of the way he held it. They?ll probably just set this up for Elimination Chamber because so far they only have the two Chamber matches and the Diva’s Title match. Drew McIntyre and Kane would be a nice addition and most likely a nice win for McIntyre.
We then got more of the never ending storyline with Michelle McCool and Mickie James. This week they attempted comedy by having Vickie Guerrero walk around with cottage cheese all over her but I wasn?t laughing. I?m so done with this angle. I was looking forward to something involving Beth Phoenix, considering what happened last week but there was not even a mention of her name. She competes in the Rumble, has one show of follow up, and then is MIA this week. What gives?
I really liked the Batista segment tonight. Sometimes the less that’s said the better. Eventually I?m sure his actions will be explained but tonight was not the right time. I?m looking to be surprised by what he does over the next few weeks. Batista has really flourished in this heel role. The last time he was even close to this interesting was 2007 during his great feud with the Undertaker. The booking lately has been so strong. All the guy did was walk around the ring and drop the microphone. I love WrestleMania season. Why can?t it be like this all year?
It was announced that next week it?ll be Edge taking on Batista. I don?t know if they?ll give away Edge’s first singles match on free TV so it could be a swerve. I?ll watch either way? partly because it’s my job.
I?m going to skip the Hardy/Khali vs. Hart Dynasty match because, well, I just didn?t care that much for it. There was no thought put into that match at all. Instead I?d like to talk real quick about John Morrison’s supposed injury. First I read he’s injured and now it turned out to be a prank. The injury looked a little worked to me. It seemed really set up. They time these shows out perfectly that had that match gone five then there would have been no time for the Edge promo. I?m skeptical on this. I have a feeling this could set up something with Shawn Michaels and the Elimination Chamber but I could be wrong.
Edge and Chris Jericho continued to tease us about a WrestleMania Main Event. I hope so ? that?d be a tremendous match. Jericho has been on fire for a year and a half now and Edge is just simply the best right now. I love that his character hasn?t changed all that much. Edge isn?t an outright babyface yet he isn?t an outright heel. The tweener character works for me.
Chris Jericho beat the Undertaker tonight in what I can only guess (hope) is the result of next Sunday’s Elimination Chamber match. Undertaker looked to be moving around well so that’s a good thing to see. I?m looking forward to what happens with him and Shawn Michaels in the coming weeks. Let Jericho take the title and face Edge at Mania. What a build! For the first time in a long time WWE leaves me wanting more on every show! Even ECW!
