“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
The RAW video plays, and we’re brought into the arena to see a big pyrotechnics display. Michael Cole welcomes us to the show before plugging The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. We’ll see a video hyping that match up tonight. Stephen Amell of “Arrow” will be on the show to address Stardust. Dean Ambrose will also face Luke Harper later tonight.
Seth Rollins’ music hits, and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion makes his way to the ring in a “Never Shut Up” shirt. Replays are shown of Rollins breaking John Cena’s nose two weeks ago on RAW. That injury required emergency surgery. Rollins stands in the middle of the ring with a big smile on his face as the crowd boos him. Rollins welcomes the crowd to “Monday Night Rollins.” Rollins says he is the man that broke the face of the man who runs the place. Rollins calls himself, “Mr. You Can’t See Knee.” The crowd loudly chants, “You sold out” toward him. Rollins says, “So what?” Rollins says he presented John Cena with the opportunity of a lifetime last week. Rollins issued a title for title, winner take all match between the two of them at SummerSlam. It’s been a week, but he hasn’t heard from Cena. Rollins knows Cena is at home licking his wounds, but why isn’t he answering the challenge? Is Cena trying to revive his rap career? Rollins then says, “John Cena isn’t ‘Straight Outta Compton’ – he’s straight out of action because I destroyed John Cena’s WWE career just like I destroyed his face with my knee.” The crowd loudly boos him for that, but he just smiles at them. A “Thank You Rollins” chant almost breaks through. Rollins says it’s interesting that Cena hasn’t spoken about the issue. If Cena doesn’t want to show up at SummerSlam, face him like a man and lose, then he can come to Brooklyn and forfeit his United States Championship to the rightful, true champion. Either way, Rollins will walk out of SummerSlam as the first man to ever hold the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE United States Championship at the same time.
Cena doesn’t have the guts to show up and answer his challenge, but he’s been hearing rumors that he’ll be at “Tough Enough” tomorrow night. That’s further proof that Cena isn’t tough enough to hang with him. Rollins says he wishes Cena had the guts and courage to show up here. Rollins interrupts himself and says Cena is here, but then says he’s here via satellite. A picture of John Cena with his mangled nose appears on the titantron. Rollins’ mouth then appears over Cena’s mouth, and he talks about how he is giving up. The fake Cena says Rollins knocked him back to square one. Usually Cena talks about “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect,” but he changed that to “Surgery, Recovery, and Rehab.” Rollins feigns shock before saying Cena is doing the right thing. The WWE Universe deserves a fighting champion, and that fighting champion is him. Rollins says he proved what kind of fighting champion he is by beating Neville in the first ever WWE World Heavyweight Championship open challenge. Neville came close, but he doesn’t quite have what it takes to be a champion. To be the man in this ring, you have to defeat…
Cesaro’s music hits, and he makes his way to the stage in a suit and sunglasses. The crowd gives him a nice round of applause. Cesaro pretends to be sorry about interrupting his “oh so hilarious monologue” with him going on and on and on (this goes on for a bit), but since he mentioned the WWE World Heavyweight Championship open challenge, he wants to be the first in line to challenge him tonight. Rollins says he didn’t say anything about an open challenge for tonight. That was last week and a one-time thing. What has Cesaro done to deserve a shot?
Kevin Owens’ music hits, and he comes out to a nice reception. Owens says the answer to Rollins’ question is “nothing.” Cesaro has done nothing to deserve a title match. Cesaro may think he earned it because some idiot printed out thousands of “Cesaro Section” signs and handed them out to the WWE Universe sheep out there. That isn’t enough to earn a title match. Owens says he’s beaten Cena, which is something neither Rollins or Cesaro can say. Owens says Rollins tapped out to Cena two weeks ago on RAW. If anyone deserves a title match tonight, he has it under good authority that it is him. Rollins asks if he’s deaf and dumb.
Randy Orton’s music hits, and he comes out to a big reaction from the crowd. Orton asks if Owens put on a little weight. Owens simply says, “No.” Orton jokes about Cesaro’s sunglasses before saying if anyone deserves a title shot it’s him. Orton gets in the ring, but Rollins says it isn’t happening. Tom Brady has a better chance of getting a free meal in Seattle than any of the jerkoffs in the ring have of getting a shot at his title. Rollins doesn’t care about what the crowd or The Authority thinks. Rollins tells the three men to get the hell out of his ring.
The Authority’s music hits, and Triple H comes out to the stage. Triple H says he finds Rollins’ words to be interesting when he said he doesn’t care about what The Authority thinks. Triple H interrupts him as Rollins tries to explain. Triple H says we are two weeks away from SummerSlam, and the doctors are saying John Cena is 50/50 at best. That creates turmoil as it relates to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. That turmoil also makes some great competition. There will be a triple threat match tonight with Cesaro taking on Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. The winner of that match will face Seth Rollins in the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins does not look happy with that announcement.
