“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomes us to the show. Lawler reminds the viewing audience that John Cena will be invoking his rematch clause at Night of Champions for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Brock Lesnar.
Hall of Fame Forum discussing Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
Michael Cole is in the ring, and he introduces Hulk Hogan to the crowd. Hogan comes out to a tremendous reception. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is out next, and he receives an equally great reaction from the crowd. Shawn Michaels is the final Hall of Fame panelist introduced, and he gets an awesome reception. JBL reminds the crowds that HBK won his first WWE Championship in this arena in 1996.
The Hall of Famers sit at a commentary table in the ring. Cole mentions that they will be discussing the match-up of Brock Lesnar versus John Cena. Cole mentions that Lesnar defeated Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Last week, Cena invoked his rematch clause for the title at Night of Champions. Cole asks HBK what he thinks Cena’s chances are of winning. HBK says he wants to be longwinded, but he can’t. With all due respect to John Cena, HBK doesn’t think his chances are good and it won’t happen. HBK says at every point in a man’s career, he comes to a crossroads where he has to make a decision. The three of them had to make it, and now it seems to be Cena’s turn. Hogan says, “Well let me tell you something, brother.” Hogan says you know when it’s your time, and Cena’s isn’t up because he can still go. Cole asks Flair what he thinks, and he agrees with HBK. Flair says he thinks the world of John Cena. Cena is the franchise and a 15-time World Champion whether you like it or not. Flair says he doesn’t feel that Cena will beat Lesnar at Night of Champions.
Cole asks for Hogan’s prediction. Hogan says “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” isn’t just a marketing logo. It’s who John Cena really is. Cena has heart and won’t stop. Hogan says he’s rooting for Cena. Flair says he likes Cena as well. HBK says it’s not a personality contest. Everyone likes Cena, but it doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t have a chance. Hogan says he remembers the match from 2012. Lesnar dominated Cena, but he still found a way to beat him. HBK says he has to interrupt Hogan. No one takes a beating like Lesnar gave him and comes out the same. Hogan says he got his hand raised in the beating. This will be the rubber match. Cena will find a way to get his arm raised. Flair asks if Hogan really believes that. HBK says he, Flair, and the people don’t believe it because it’s unbelievable.
John Cena’s music hits, and he makes his way out to the ring looking solemn. Cena gets in the ring, and the crowd is booing him. Cena says everyone is weighing in on him after SummerSlam. Cena mentions the many things he has going against him, including a panel of Hall of Famers. The crowd lightly chants, “Cena sucks” toward him. Cena says he has the utmost respect for the three men in the ring. Every one of them has influenced his life in some way. Shawn Michaels has as a professional and a friend. As for Ric Flair, they’ve had some professional times and some recreational times. Finally, if there were no Hulk Hogan, there would be no John Cena.
Cena says he’s sick of all the talk about what he should do and where he should go. He’s here tonight to say what is going on within himself. Everyone saw SummerSlam. There were 16 German Suplexes. There is no “win some, lose some” excuse or sports cliché that can explain it away. SummerSlam was an ass whooping and an absolute beat down. HBK was as insightful as always. A fight like that does change a man. After being dropped on his head nearly 20 times, when the doctor asked him what he wants to do in the trainer’s room, he said he wants to fight Lesnar again. Cena says he sees how everyone is looking at him. They’re wondering why he wants to take that beat down again. Is he crazy? Cena says he doesn’t plan on taking an ass kicking again. He’s going to bring the fight to Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. Cena knows HBK and Flair have their doubts while he has Hogan’s support. This rematch is the biggest of his entire life. He’s not going to Night of Champions to beat Brock Lesnar. He’s going to Night of Champions to beat Brock Lesnar’s ass. Cena’s music hits, and he quickly leaves the ring.

-Commercial Break-

It’s a celebration of the future, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring in a black suit and tie with the Money in the Bank briefcase. The crowd boos Rollins as he stands at the podium in the ring. Rollins bows his head as the crowd lightly chants, “You sold out.” Rollins says he was the leader of the most dominant group in the history of WWE, The Shield. There is a reason that he handpicked Dean Ambrose to be a member of The Shield. Pain and fear were never factors for Ambrose. Ambrose was a courageous fighter, but he had to prove at his expense last week that The Authority always wins. Rollins says it is with a heavy heart that he has the production truck roll footage of the match that the WWE Universe chose as the demise of Dean Ambrose. Footage is shown from last week of Kane giving Ambrose a Chokeslam on the commentary table before Rollins connected with a Curb Stomp. Kane then revealed some cinder blocks, and Rollins hit a Curb Stomp on Ambrose through the blocks.
Rollins laughs heartily before asking if they can imagine the moment of impact when he crushed Ambrose’s skull. Rollins wonders what was going through Ambrose’s mind. Did Ambrose ever think he was in over his head or overmatched both physically and mentally? It’s no secret that those cinder blocks weren’t out there by accident. The headache Ambrose will have for the rest of his life is no accident either. It saddens him that the casualty of Dean Ambrose’s career can be summed up in two simple words: what if. What if Dean Ambrose had known his place? What if Dean Ambrose had recognized his authority? What if Dean Ambrose had simply walked away when he had the opportunity? The real tragedy of all of this is we will never know the answers to those “what ifs.” As far as Rollins is concerned, it is highly likely that you will never see Dean Ambrose again. Rollins says he’s the one who created The Shield, and he is the one who has destroyed it.

A pre-taped promo from Brock Lesnar is shown. Lesnar says, “Well it’s the greatest thing that I’ve ever accomplished. In my mind, I came back to this company with one goal in mind, and that was to conquer the WWE Universe and once again become the WWE Heavyweight Champion of the World. I hit John Cena with an F-5 right off the bat. I gave him a chance to lay on the mat and just stay down. That’s all he had to do, but instead this ‘no give up’ bullshit takes over. Quite frankly, I don’t think it did him any favors.” Paul Heyman says, “Brock Lesnar is a beast.” Lesnar says, “In my mind, I was inflicting the right amount of pain I wanted to inflict on John Cena.” Heyman says, “The only reason why John Cena survived the beating at SummerSlam is because Brock Lesnar unfortunately took pity on John Cena and decided to end the fight.”
Footage is seen of Triple H announcing that Cena would be invoking his rematch clause at Night of Champions. Heyman says, “And now, talk about humiliation. My client is humiliated by the fact that John Cena would dare invoke this rematch clause. How dare you, sir. Are you out of your mind? Do you understand the unrepentant beast that sits before you right now? This was a bad mistake, Mr. Cena. I’m a huge fan of yours, but this was a bad mistake.” Lesnar says, “I don’t know if your dad sat at the edge of your bed when you were just a little boy and filled your ear full of all kinds of garbage. ‘Little Johnny, some day you’re going to grow up and become a man. But someday, you’re going to run into a guy that is going to knock your ass down, and you’re going to stand up, and he’s going to knock your ass down, and you’re going to stand up, and he’s going to knock your ass down, and then he’s not going to let you up.’ You’re not going to get up, John Cena. It’s over, my friend. I don’t feel bad for you because the last twelve years, that’s what you’ve been living on. Then Brock Lesnar shows up. John Cena, mark my words, Night of Champions is going to be your last night in this universe. Game over. Almost brings a tear to my eye.”

Still photos are shown of Stephanie McMahon defeating Brie Bella at SummerSlam with help from Nikki Bella.
Brie and Nikki Bella meet in the ring to “reconcile”
Jerry Lawler is in the ring, and he says that one of the most shocking moments at SummerSlam was when Nikki Bella betrayed her twin sister and cost her a match against one of the principal owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon. Lawler could chalk up what Nikki did as a bad decision in the heat of the moment until this moment from RAW last week. Footage is shown of Nikki saying she never had a sister. Nikki then slapped Brie in the face. Lawler says no one likes to see a family torn apart, so hopefully tonight will be the first step in bringing the Bellas back together.
Nikki Bella is introduced first, and she comes out with a sneer on her face. Lawler mentions that the fans are not as forgiving as Brie is toward her. Brie Bella is then introduced, and she comes out to a nice reception. Brie looks very serious and upset as she comes down to the ring. Nikki mentions that she can’t even have her own entrance music. Brie tells her that she can have the “stupid music.” Lawler says this isn’t about entrance music. Brie says this is about the person she trusted more than anyone in the world backstabbing her. She loves her friends and husband, but they’ve been together since before they were born. When her mom was pregnant, she saw an ultrasound of them holding hands in the womb. She knows that Nikki has hurt feeling because she thinks she abandoned her. She quit for the sake of her husband not knowing that that witch, Stephanie McMahon, would mistreat Nikki. Brie apologizes from the bottom of her heart. Forget WWE and Total Divas. This is Brianna speaking to Nicole. Brie says, “Please, I’m sorry.”
Nikki says she doesn’t know what to say except that it’s the biggest load of crap she’s ever heard. She gets it. She’s the selfish, materialistic one while Brie is the innocent, beautiful woman who just wants her family back together. Is that the story Brie is trying to tell? Maybe the fans are stupid enough to believe it, but not her. She knows the real Brie. Brie has always wanted the spotlight and loved more. Nikki wants her to admit that she never cared about her. Brie says this is insane and it wasn’t about her. Nikki says it was always about Brie. Nikki tells her to stop the angel act. Maybe they weren’t holding hands in the ultrasound. Maybe Brie was doing what she does best: holding her back. Nikki says she’s just so done with Brie and their family always treating her like an afterthought. Nikki says she’s also tired of the guys in the audience who have a stupid fantasy of twins. They’re all too fat and ugly to ever have.
Most of all, she’s so over Brie’s scraggly hair, her “save the Earth” crap, her log cabin house, and her troll-faced husband. Brie looks disgusted. Nikki says she’s done playing second fiddle to a sister that never gave a damn about her. Brie says she does give a damn. Nikki says, “Mrs. Daniel Bryan, everyone’s favorite Bella Twin.” Nikki is going to tell them something they don’t know about Brie Bella. Brie stole all her boyfriends when they were young as well as blaming her for all the trouble Brie got into. Nikki says when Brie quit she abandoned her. She was put in 3-on-1 and 4-on-1 handicap matches. All the while, Brie watched it on television. She cared more about trending on Twitter than her. Brie says, “Give me a break, Nikki.” Nikki says she’s one sad excuse of a sister and a human being.
Brie begs her to stop before nearly breaking down into tears. Nikki mocks her by asking if she’s going to cry. Brie begins to cry as Nikki says this is the real “Brie Mode.” Nikki calls her a pathetic hot mess. Lawler tries to calm her down, and she screams, “Stay out of it, old man! Get out!” Lawler slowly leaves the ring. Nikki says as far as she’s concerned, she has no sister. Nikki grabs her by the hair and says she wishes she died in the womb! Nikki pulls her down by the hair, throws her high heels at her, and punches at Brie. Lawler pulls Nikki away, and she slaps him in the face. Nikki continues to punch away at her as referees run down to break it up. Nikki says that Brie is dead to her. Brie is kneeling in the ring crying as Lawler checks on her.
