“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
RAW General Manager Kurt Angle’s music hits, and the WWE Hall of Famer makes his way to the ring as the crowd lovingly sings “You suck” to the tune of his theme music. There are ladders on the stage, signaling it is Money in the Bank season. Angle welcomes the crowd to RAW. Angle has been part of the WWE family for almost 20 years. The one thing that separates this company from any other form of entertainment is they never stop. 52 weeks a year. They’ve gone from WrestleMania to the Superstar Shakeup to the Greatest Royal Rumble and the dual-branded Backlash. Now we’re on to Money in the Bank. There will be two Money in the Bank matches for the men and women, compiling both brands. These matches will be great. On RAW, they settle it in the ring. There will be two Money in the Bank Qualifying matches. The first will be a triple threat with Ember Moon, Ruby Riott, and Sasha Banks. The other triple threat match will have Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, and Sami Zayn.
Braun Strowman’s music hits, and he comes out to a big reception. The crowd chants, “Get these hands.” Strowman asks Angle if he ever told him about the time he was a kid and all the boys in the neighborhood wanted to build a treehouse. They did everything, but they never asked him for help. When they were done, all he heard about was the handshake you needed to get up there. You know what he did? Angle asks if he knocked the treehouse down. Strowman says he waited until they were all in the treehouse and took the tree down. Angle says Strowman has been on a roll and deserves to be in the match.
Kevin Owens’ music hits, and he comes out to the stage. Owens and Zayn were beaten by Strowman and Bobby Lashley last night. Owens says if anyone deserves to be in the ladder match, it’s him. Owens has only been on RAW a few weeks, but he’s the RAW MVP. Owens anchors all the top segments and people chant his name. Owens respects the rules. Last night at Backlash, the wrong man was pinned at Backlash. Last night’s decision should be reversed. They should be declared the winners, meaning Strowman loses and isn’t on a roll. The only thing Strowman deserves is to be put into a giant corner to reflect on being a very bad monster. Angle says he can’t just put Owens in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Angle was about to say Strowman is in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. Owens says he deserves that match. Strowman says the only thing Owens deserves is to GET THESE HANDS. Owens backs away and says the first RAW superstar to enter the Money in the Bank Ladder Match is Kevin Owens. Owens reminds Angle that Stephanie McMahon is watching. Angle says he’s decided to put Strowman in a qualifying match against Owens… and that match starts right now! Owens is furious. Strowman smiles hungrily.
.@BraunStrowman competing in a #MITB Qualifying Match? @FightOwensFight isn't too thrilled about that… #RAW pic.twitter.com/62hNUNud7u
— WWE (@WWE) May 8, 2018
Normally after a poor PPV like #WWEBacklash was last night (though it was not by any stretch of even the most jaded fan's imagination the worst of all time), they usually bounce back with a good show. #RAW should be all action and is off to a good start so far.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/993649329121497088
I could watch Braun Strowman kill people all day. Kevin Owens is a great bumper for him. Still, what is Owens doing jobbing every week since he's been on #RAW? They don't seem to be utilizing him all that well.

-Commercial Break-
Roman Reigns is interviewed by Mike Rome. Rome says he handled his business against Samoa Joe, but what is his mindset going into his match tonight? Reigns says he’s the uncrowned Universal Champion. WWE management doesn’t agree. Reigns is sick of it. Reigns can’t control the backstage politics. When he’s in the ring, that’s where he silences the haters. Just ask Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and Samoa Joe. Reigns wouldn’t want to be Sami Zayn or Finn Balor. He’s pissed off, which means he’ll dominate and win. Reigns is going to take back what’s his: the Universal Championship.
Bayley says she can’t wait to hug the briefcase.
Breezango says they’ve been briefed on a new case… the briefcase. They’re not sure how to get it.
Kurt Angle is backstage with Goldust. Goldust says he’s only ever met one man he didn’t want to fight — Million Dollar Baby, 2004. Angle asks what that means. Goldust says he wants to be in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. It’s his quest for the ultimate gold. Jinder Mahal walks in and asks why he’s not in the triple threat. More importantly, why is Roman Reigns? Reigns has received many opportunities while he has received none. Angle says he hasn’t won a match since being on RAW. Angle says if he can have a good showing against Chad Gable, he’ll consider Money in the Bank. Goldust is in the background laughing.

Jose hits Dawson with a Knockout Punch, but he doesn’t realize Corbin blind tagged in. Corbin hits Jose with the End of Days for the win.
Winners by Pinfall: The Revival and Baron Corbin
Average six-man tag match. I predict this is the first of many losses for No Way Jose. This gimmick just doesn't have a long shelf life. We've seen it before. #RAW

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/993658845548380160
Decent triple threat match. A little clunky with some transitions, but not bad at all. I'm really enjoying the Ember Moon presentation so far. They're doing a good job with her. She certainly unique and has great offense. She should be great in the ladder match. #RAW

Later tonight, we’ll have another triple threat Money in the Bank Qualifier with Roman Reigns taking on Finn Balor and Sami Zayn. Coming up next, we’ll have an exclusive interview with Bobby Lashley.
-Commercial Break-

Video Package: Bobby Lashley’s life
Renee Young asks who Bobby Lashley the man is. Lashley says he’s blessed to have a great family. That’s what he’s all about. Lashley talks about being close to his three older sisters. They used to tie him to a tree in the woods and leave him there for hours because they thought it was funny. Another one tried to kill him with a broom. His one sister used to have a security towel, but over the years it got dirty. A bully took the towel, so he found the bully and shoved the towel down his throat. His last sister was daddy’s girl. She used to carry his father’s helmet. Lashley took it and shows a scar that he has from doing that. Lashley says he has an extended family with the WWE Universe. They’re going to have so much fun. Lashley then says he loves his sisters.
Bobby Lashley's family life growing up sounded twisted as hell. What a totally bizarre interview. #RAW
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) May 8, 2018
By the way, who scripted that promo for Ember Moon. What a momentum killer. Fire that person immediately. #RAW
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) May 8, 2018
Sami Zayn says there is a cloud of misery raining on their parade of triumph. Kevin Owens says he’s the victim tonight whereas Zayn has a nice triple threat. They argue about what happened at Backlash when Zayn slapped him in the face. Zayn says they need to focus on the future and seize a position of power. They need to become the Universal Champion, which is made easier by winning the Money in the Bank contract. Zayn asks if he’s with him. Owens says he is.

Alexa Bliss talks about winning the Money in the Bank contract and cashing in on Nia Jax, the bully.
The Ascension says they will rise to the top of the ladder and turn RAW into The Wasteland.
Also what's with all these people saying they're going to win Money in the Bank? How many qualifying matches are there going to be? In what world does The Ascension or Goldust think they're actually going to be in it? #RAW
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) May 8, 2018

Winners by Pinfall: Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler
I like the combination of Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. Gives Ziggler something to do, but that record scratch needs to leave his theme song immediately. That's from a long forgotten storyline. Time to make them completely serious. #RAW

Elias is playing his guitar backstage. He’ll perform and be in action against Bobby Roode, next.
-Commercial Break-
Elias is in the ring strumming his guitar. Elias greets the crowd and plays a riff. Elias asks who wants to walk with him. Elias knows so many truths, such as how WWE stands for Walk With Elias. He is on another planet than anyone else. Last night, he was interrupted by pancakes, conga lines, and that glorious fraud, Bobby Roode. Elias figured Long Island would love Bobby Roode, which is where Billy Joel is from. Elias figured they like talentless hacks. If Elias wants to interrupt his singing, he’ll rip out his vocal cords. Then he’ll go on to win the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. A “RUSEV DAY” chant breaks out. Elias says he’s not here tonight. They trade punches before Roode chops him. Elias reverses a whip to the corner, and Roode collapses in pain. A “Let’s go Yankees/Let’s go Mets” chant fires up. Elias removes the turnbuckle cover and tries to send Roode into it, but he blocks it. Roode punches away at him. They botch something, and Elias simply knocks him down. Roode then surprises him with a Glorious DDT for the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Bobby Roode
Charly Caruso interviews Bobby Roode in the ring about how good that victory must feel. Roode says those feelings and emotions will get better. Kurt Angle has been handing out qualifying matches tonight, so hopefully he gets one. Winning Money in the Bank would be absolutely glorious.
Clunky match that was made worse with a quiet crowd. Bobby Roode has looked less than impressive since coming over to #RAW.
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) May 8, 2018

Rollins says he learned from The Miz what kind of champion to not be. Rollins wants to be a champion that is here every single week. Rollins wants to be a fighting champion. All the buzz tonight is about Money in the Bank, which he knows all too well. Money in the Bank isn’t his focus right now. Rollins wants to make the Intercontinental Title THE title on RAW. Maybe he can create an opportunity for someone else. Rollins issues an open challenge for the Intercontinental Championship right here and now.
Mojo Rawley comes out to zero reaction and stands on the stage. Rawley says this is the RAW debut he deserves. When opportunity comes knocking, Rawley knocks people down. Winner and still WWE Intercontinental Champion: Seth Rollins
https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/993680196774526976
Fun match. I like the idea of doing open challenges every week. I know the crowd wasn't happy to see Rawley, but if they brought out Ryder that wouldn't do any favors for Rollins. Rollins is one of the most over guys on #RAW. Don't need him getting booed beating the hometown boy.

Winner by Pinfall: Finn Balor

Good triple threat match with a nice surprise finish. I figured Roman Reigns would be going over easy, so it was a nice swerve to have Jinder Mahal cost him the match. That of course means we'll have a Reigns/Mahal match, which might be bad, but good for tonight. #RAW
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) May 8, 2018
Overall, this wasn't the awesome show I figured they'd come back with. Some of that had to do with a largely quiet crowd, but another part had to do with some dull match-ups. #RAW

This crew has to be exhausted. They've had a hellacious travel schedule this month with South Africa and Saudi Arabia, and it's not getting easier. Europe is up next. #RAW will be in the UK next week.
