People.com is featuring an article about the announcement that went public on Sunday evening that John Cena and Nikki Bella have split after six years together.
The article revealed Cena and Bella were scheduled to be married in just three weeks on May 5 at a destination wedding to be held in Mexico.
In an interview with the outlet just weeks earlier to promote his new movie “Blockers”, Cena seemed excited about getting married to Nikki and talked about how fans of “Total Divas” and “Total Bellas” would already refer to her as his wife.
“People come up to me and say, ‘I love watching your wife on television.’ And I love that, so that happens to me 10 times before it would be a, ‘Yo man I love your work.’ It’s always, ‘I love watching your wife on television. I’m already ready to go there and it sounds nice hearing it. I know that we will have a wonderful future together because I love the way that sounds.”
The article claims, based on a source close to Nikki, that Cena got “cold feet” just weeks before the two were scheduled to get married. Based on the comments by Cena above, it would appear this was a very last minute decision by the couple.
Cena shared this tweet early on Monday after the news went public.
Hardship, loss, and humility are extremely difficult waters to navigate, but perseverance thru them builds a strength to withstand anything life throws your way.

The same article claims Nikki is “heartbroken” regarding the split.
