Hulk Hogan has reportedly been in discussions with WWE in recent weeks according to a new report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com on Thursday.
WWE issued a statement on Thursday admitting they have had discussions with the WWE Hall of Famer, in what is believed to be some of the first dialogue between both parties since Hogan was released by the company back in July of 2015.
While WWE admitted to the conversations, they reiterated he hasn’t signed a new deal.
“We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.”
WWE has worked hard to separate itself from Hogan after tapes were leaked of Hogan making racially charged comments back in the summer of 2015. In the years to follow, Hogan would remain in the spotlight winning a lawsuit against the website Gawker and being awarded a reported $140 million in damages.
The media had continued to press the possibility of a Hogan return to WWE, although the company was quick remain committed to their decision to part ways with Hogan as recent as this past January in an interview with the Associated Press. Mark Henry told TMZ Sports that Hogan would be welcomed back if he apologized to African American talent.
Whether or not the new discussions would lead to Hogan returning to WWE television in an on-air role or some kind of ambassador role remains to be seen.
