Variety has officially confirmed the “major announcement” that TNA will make on Monday afternoon that the company will be moving its weekly Impact show to Monday nights beginning on March 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET (8:00 p.m. CT). The show will go head-to-head every week with WWE Monday Night Raw. A live Impact will take place every other week.
TNA President Dixie Carter on the move to Monday nights:
“We’ve always wanted to go on Monday nights. That’s where the wrestling viewing audience is accustomed to being.”
Eric Bischoff on the move by TNA:
“It’s a little bit of history repeating itself. This is a great opportunity for TNA to step up and get noticed and showcase their product. I’ve said since the moment I started talking to Dixie, in my opinion we should go head-to-head with ‘Monday Night Raw.’ To me, it’s a battlefield — and to win the battle, you have to be on the battlefield.”
In response to this announcement, WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman added, “We’re not too concerned. We’re in good shape.”
