WWE Smackdown
June 20, 2008
San Jose, CA
Reported by: Mike Tedesco of WrestleView.com

“Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event…” The WWE video leads us into the show.

The Smackdown video plays and then we open up the show with a great pyrotechnics display.

Michael Cole and Mick Foley welcome us to Smackdown emanating from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Cole reminds us that we’re only three days away from the WWE Draft and questions whether this is the last time we see some of our favorite superstars on Smackdown. I sure hope so because the current roster is dull.

It’s time for the VIP Lounge! MVP is sitting in the ring. I guess he never bought new set pieces from when Batista destroyed them a few weeks ago. How is he spending that huge contract he has?!

MVP says it’s going to be a little bit different tonight because he wants to talk about how in a few short days the WWE Draft is going to happen and anyone, including General Managers, announcers and referees are eligible for drafting. It’s going to be one of those WWE nights where anything can happen. He says that’s cool with him because standing before us is the man everyone tunes in to see what he’s going to do next. Yeah…

He says he’s cool going to whatever franchise is going to most properly utilize his talents because he’s not only the highest paid entertainer on Smackdown – he’s also it’s most talented athlete!

MVP says he doesn’t think his talents are being properly utilized by the management of Smackdown. He wonders if maybe it’s because they don’t have an eye for talent or they don’t know what they’re doing or they’re distracted by their personal issues like getting married or if it’s because if he was given the opportunity he thinks he deserves he’d outshine everyone on the show, including everyone in La Familia!

Cue Hawkins and Ryder wheeling out Vickie Guerrero.

She asks MVP who the hell he thinks he is going into her ring… The crowd then stops her with the ultra loud booing. I love it! She continues her scripted lines by saying exactly what she said before coming on her show trashing her family and saying that he’d rather be on RAW or ECW. She says she doesn’t need these problems from him.

MVP claims it wasn’t his intention to insult her family and he apologizes if she took it that way. He says that last week she asked him to beat CM Punk and he did. She says that’s not what she asked him to do and then the crowd goes crazy! MVP says he wants to hear what she has to say. She starts over by saying that even though he won the match he barely did that. MVP says whatever and he still got his hand raised. Cole chimes in saying it was by disqualification. MVP says the deal was his agent would call to renegotiate him contract with her but every time the agent called Vickie was not available! MVP says he doesn’t want to leave the franchise – heck, he’s the face of the franchise (his words, not mine)! He says she makes him feel like she doesn’t want him there and if that’s the case then he doesn’t want to be here!

Vickie says, with all due respect, by the way, that she doesn’t have the time to negotiate his contract in public. He may feel like he’s unappreciated but he needs to remember that he still has a contract on Smackdown and if he feels like he’s underutilized and not challenged he won’t be for long because tonight she’s ordering him to go one on one with the ECW Champion Kane! MVP stares at her in disbelief while she smiles – evilly, I might add.

United States Champion Matt Hardy is making his way down the hallway because next he’s going one on one with Chavo Guerrero’s bodyguard Bam Neely in a non title match!

:::Commercial Break:::

Matt Hardy vs. Bam Neely w/ Chavo Guerrero

Michael Cole and Mick Foley talk about the US Title Match at Night of Champions between Matt Hardy and Chavo Guerrero. This is also the first single match for Bam Neely! Great! Will he soften up Matt Hardy for Night of Champions?

Bam has ditched his business attire. The bell rings and the circle each other before locking up. Neely quickly throws Matt into the corner. Cole says that Matt Hardy has never seen Neely in action but Foley owns him by saying that Neely has been in action if he’s been watching ECW. Cole tries to cover up by saying it was in tag matches and it was limited action but the damage has been done.

They lock up again and Matt gets a side headlock and Neely tries to throw him off but Matt kicks him in the gut, goes to the ropes and gets leveled by Neely with a big shoulder block! Bam goes for an elbow drop but Hardy rolls out of the way and starts punching Neely while he’s on his knees. Neely blocks the kick but Matt hits a big enzuigiri! A few more forearms to the face and Matt tries to Irish whip him into the ropes but it’s reversed. Matt Hardy ducks a clothesline and comes off the ropes for a crossbody block but Neely just catches him and maneuvers him onto his right shoulder before dumping him throat first onto the top ring rope! Hardy is stunned and turns into a big clothesline for a one count. Neely locks in a really terrible looking headlock variation. Matt tries to fight out of it but Neely takes him by the hair and slams him onto the mat. He locks in the same terrible headlock variation. Matt gets up to a vertical base and tries to get out of it. Neely sends him into the ropes but Matt comes off for a Side Effect but it’s blocked with some stiff looking elbows and Matt comes back into a big boot for a two count. Neely keeps looking to Chavo as if to say “I’m doing good huh!” Neely uses the ring rope to choke Matt Hardy and breaks the hold before he’s disqualified. Matt starts coming back with some punches and kicks and comes off the ropes into another big clothesline!

Neely now has a rear chinlock on Hardy and Hardy gets out of it with a jawbreaker! Matt hits some nice punches and goes for a Twist of Fate but is shoved in the corner. Neely goes to avalanche him but Hardy gets out of the way just in time and Neely eats the corner. Hardy goes for a bulldog but is pushed off into the other corner but elbows Neely in the face while he charges him and then kicks Neely in the face again. Matt climbs to the second rope and hits a bulldog on Neely from there and only gets a two count!! Matt hits a textbook swinging neckbreaker on Neely and goes to the top rope but Chavo grabs his leg! How dare him! Neely takes advantage and tosses Hardy off the top rope ala the Ric Flair spot.

The referee Charles Robinson (Little Naitch) caught Chavo interfering and sends him back to the locker room to the delight of the San Jose crowd and to the dismay of Bam Neely!

Neely goes to put Hardy on his shoulder but Hardy rolls out of it and hits a Twist of Fate and this one is over and Chavo is not happy!

Winner by Pinfall: Matt Hardy
Match Rating: **

Chavo shouts things at Hardy while going up the ramp and Hardy just kisses his United States Championship.

:::Commercial Break:::

Did you know that in 2007 fifteen WWE DVD releases reached #1 on the Sports DVD charts with Wrestlemania 23 holding the #1 spot for the year? Again, who cares?

Backstage, Chavo is berating Bam Neely because he was supposed to take care of Matt Hardy and how he’s mad at the referee’s decision to evict him from ringside. Edge comes up to him and Chavo reiterates that Charles Robinson had no right to do that. Chavo says he didn’t touch Matt and how Robinson has it out for them! Edge says Vickie will take care of Charles Robinson and Edge will take care of Matt Hardy for him. Chavo says he can take care of Hardy but Edge says Vickie arranged for it to happen next week so he’ll help Chavo out. Edge asks Chavo if he trusts him to take care of Hardy because Edge trusts him to be the best man at his wedding. Edge says he needs Chavo to face Batista tonight. Chavo looked really stressed but Edge says to trust him and walks off!

Michelle McCool vs. Layla

Cole quotes Layla from WWE Magazine saying that being in ECW has made her more aggressive and gentler in the bedroom. Foley says he can vouch. Yes, that is the right way to get the women’s division over on Smackdown.

Foley sings “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’ Roses saying he wrote it for Michelle himself. It’s a going thing with Foley to do this every week. They go to lock up but Layla delivers a nice kick to the midsection and a knee and sends her to the corner. Michelle goes to leap frog Layla but Layla catches her and throws her to the apron and McCool lands on her feet. Layla goes to charge her but Michelle hits a shoulder to the midsection and goes to climb to the top rope but Layla pushes her off and Michelle hits her face on the apron on the way to the floor! Ouch!

On the outside Layla slams her face on the apron and rolls her into the ring for a one count. Layla slams her face into the mat and locks in a rear chinlock. Michelle tries to fight her way back to a vertical base but Layla slams her on the mat again! Layla hits a leg drop for a one count and goes right back to the rear chinlock. Michelle fights back to a vertical base and breaks the hold by driving Layla into the turnbuckle.

While this is happening, Natalya Neidhart, who is the only girl confirmed to be in the match for the newly created Diva’s Championship at Night of Champions, comes out to watch.

Layla kicks Michelle in the midsection again and slams her to the mat by her hair again. Michelle tries to use Layla to get up but every time Layla just pushes her off by her face! Michelle then starts punching Layla in the midsection and then hits a nice sort of roundhouse from her knees to Layla’s midsection. Layla comes up to Michelle and Michelle gets a cradle on her and Layla kicks out at one. McCool is up to the vertical base and hits a nice dropkick on Layla followed by a clothesline and another dropkick. Michelle hits a nice belly to belly suplex for a close two count!

Michelle goes to pick Layla up but Layla again kicks her in the ovaries and then hits two vicious forearms to the face and goes to whip her into the corner but Michelle reverses it and then charges Layla onto to meet a knee to the midsection! Michelle will never be able to have kids with all these hits to the midsection! Layla is on the second rope and McCool goes to her in the corner and Layla tries to kick her in the face but Michelle grabs her leg and throws her off the second rope with it! Michelle then locks in a beautiful leg lock for the submission victory!

Winner by Submission: Michelle McCool
Match Rating: **

Natalya seems impressed by what she just saw. The story of this match again was the girls are trying to impress Vickie Guerrero to face Natalya for the Diva’s Championship.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero was doing just the opposite. She wasn’t watching the match so all their work was for nothing. Instead she’s talking with her wedding planner Alicia Fox. Edge comes in and says they need to talk alone. He says he was talking to Chavo and he came to tattle on Charles Robinson and then all of a sudden Robinson comes in because Vickie wanted to see him! Robinson creepily has his arm around Vickie for some reason. Vickie says she’s been reviewing his past performance and she expects fairness from Robinson. She says he was unbiased at Wrestlemania 24 when he was trying to help Undertaker win the World Heavyweight Title, then at Judgment Day when he illegally tried to give the Undertaker the World Heavyweight Championship and just now when he kicked Chavo Guerrero out from ringside. Robinson tries to defend his actions but Vickie says to stop. She knows he’s a single father and he needs this job and he has responsibilities just like her as General Manager. She says in the name of objectivity he must be in the ring as a competitor tonight. She tells Robinson to get ready for his match tonight!

:::Commercial Break:::

The WWE Draft is this Monday on RAW!

Jamie Noble vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Apparently Mick Foley and Kozlov got into an altercation this week because Foley has been making fun of him in commentary. I hate his entrance. Cole tries to say Noble will be his toughest challenge yet. Somehow I doubt that.

The bell rings and Noble immediately tries to take Kozlov down by the legs but he just gets tossed off. Noble tries for it again and then goes behind and locks him up from behind in a waist lock but the rough and tough Kozlov breaks it and goes behind Noble and hits a nice Greco-Roman slam and then tries to get Noble in a headlock but Noble slips out. They lock up again and Noble hits a side headlock but Kozlov throws him to the ropes and Noble gets destroyed with a shoulder block. Kozlov hits a nice Sambo hip toss and then a big boot. A big right hand from Kozlov levels Noble into the corner. Kozlov sizes him up and charges but Noble gets his feet in Kozlov’s face then goes to the second rope and hits a missile dropkick knocking Kozlov off his feet for only the second time ever and he gets a two count. Noble locks in a nice guillotine chokehold on Kozlov! Kozlov tries to get up but fails a few times. Kozlov finally gets up and drives him into the turnbuckle kidney first. A big forearm levels Noble. Kozlov hits a beautiful overhead belly to belly suplex. Kozlov tosses Noble into the turnbuckle and hits a shoulder to the midsection. Kozlov charges but meets a knee to the face. Noble is up on the second rope and flies through the air and Kozlov simply head-butts him to the canvas and pins him for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Vladimir Kozlov
Match Rating: *

Our Main Event tonight is Batista vs. Chavo Guerrero but next we’ve got MVP vs. Kane.

:::Commercial Break:::

In addition to the draft this Monday, there will be another Million Dollar Mania. Make sure you register.

MVP vs. Kane

The bell rings and MVP gets in Kane’s face talking trash and Kane hits a big uppercut, flooring MVP! Kane picks MVP up again and levels him with a right hand! Kane sends MVP into the ropes and knocks him down with a reverse elbow! Kane then comes off the ropes and hits an elbow drop! Kane hits a headlock takeover and has MVP in a side headlock. Kane is just dominating the early stages of this match!

MVP gets the first offense of the match, locking Kane’s head in between his legs and delivering forearms to the back but Kane gets out and gets the headlock in again. MVP gets up and has Kane in the corner so the hold has to be broken and MVP delivers a cheap punch to the face! Kane levels MVP with a right hand and throws MVP into the corner, charges but MVP hits a drop toe hold and Kane falls face first into the middle turnbuckle. MVP then kicks Kane in the face and steps on his throat. A kick and a punch and MVP comes off the ropes and hits a kick to the side of Kane’s head for a one count. MVP locks in a rear chinlock but Kane gets vertical, hits some elbows and throws MVP into the ropes and hits a powerslam for a two count. Kane goes for a big elbow drop but MVP rolls out of the way. MVP gets up and hits a stiff kick to Kane’s spine and gets a two count. He grounds and pounds Kane for another two count. Kane gets up and is in the corner and MVP hits that big kick of his to Kane’s face! MVP gets another two count and didn’t hook Kane’s leg. MVP locks in an arm bar necklock and has it in tight. Kane maneuvers the hold to try and pin MVP and MVP releases the hold before he’s counted out. MVP gets a headlock but Kane hits a belly to back suplex on MVP! The referee starts counting them out but Kane is up at four, clotheslines MVP, bodyslams him and hits a dropkick for a two count. MVP hits a quick punch but comes off the ropes into a big boot. Kane whips him into the corner and clotheslines him. He tries again but MVP gets an elbow up but runs into a side slam from Kane for a two. Kane’s up to the top rope and comes off for his trademark clothesline! Kane signals for the choke slam but MVP gets to the ropes. Kane then clotheslines him over the top rope. The referee starts counting him out but MVP tells the referee to wait! MVP then waves off the match and is counted out.

Winner by Count Out: Kane
Match Rating: * ½

Mark Henry’s music then hits and he’s moving as fast as a 400 pound man can get to the ring. Kane knocks MVP down on the outside with an uppercut and Mark Henry levels Kane on the outside with a big clothesline! Henry rolls Kane into the ring and he hits an impressive World’s Strongest Slam on Kane, payback for the double choke slam from ECW! Henry is coming after whoever is the ECW Champion after Night of Champions. Great…

Charles Robinson is in the back pacing. Chavo Guerrero comes in and says he wants to wish him luck in his match… which is next!

:::Commercial Break:::

A video for WWE’s contributions to the Make a Wish Foundation is played. They’ve been doing it for over twenty years. That’s legit nice. I support that.

The bell rings and Justin Roberts introduces Charles Robinson, who has Vladimir Kozlov’s introduction, minus the lights being out. Who will his opponent be? Oh, it’s The Great Khali. My call is Robinson will get the dupe.

Charles Robinson vs. The Great Khali

Charles Robinson immediately tries to run out of the ring but halfway up the ramp Hawkins and Ryder throw him to the ground and punch him and dump him in the ring. My girlfriend is upset by this whole debacle. Some friend Mickie Henson is – he asks if he’s OK then rings the bell!

Khali grabs Robinson’s arm and Khali destroys him with a clothesline! Khali goes to pin him with a foot on the chest but stops and picks him up by his face! Khali hits a massive head-butt and Robinson takes it with one of the most hilarious facial expressions I’ve ever seen. Seriously. I had to watch it in slow motion. It was funnier! Khali goes to pin him with the foot on his chest but stops and picks him up by his face again! Khali then levels him with a chop and Robinson sells it so hilariously! He even has his tongue out while he’s falling! I can’t get enough! My girlfriend is dying! I hope Robinson becomes an active competitor! Khali picks him up by his hair and locks in that Khali Vice Grip! Robinson’s facial expression is hilarious. Seriously. Henson then stops the match and awards it to Khali. My prediction was wrong.

Winner by Referee Stoppage: The Great Khali
Match Rating: * for the comedy

The medical technicians are ringside doing things that real EMTs wouldn’t do – they can’t even get him on the surfboard looking thing. They’re strapping him in and taking him to the morgue as they fade to commercial with a slow motion close up of Robinson’s face locked in the Vice Grip. Priceless. Seriously.

:::Commercial Break:::

The official theme song for Night of Champions is Devour by Shinedown. Who the hell are they?!

Hey, it’s biscuits and gravy time. It made them all that they are. Ugly and slow apparently so cancel my order of them.

Their opponents are Deuce ‘N Domino who come out arguing and without their classic car.

Jesse & Festus vs. Deuce ‘N Domino

The bell rings and Festus goes ballistic and mauls both Deuce and Domino. They go outside while Jesse calms Festus down and start arguing and brawling! Domino sends Deuce headfirst into the barricade and Cole compares this to Fonzie and Potsie from Happy Days fighting. Has Cole ever seen Happy Days? Domino then tears Deuce’s shirt off! Deuce then slams Domino’s face into the announcer’s table and throws him in the ring. Festus takes Domino and hits a fall away slam. Domino gets up and gets an uppercut from Festus. Festus then hits his butt bump looking move on Domino and then Festus hits his TKO Knockout finisher on him and pins him. Quick and easy and Festus is back to his lethargic state.

Winners by Pinfall: Jesse & Festus
Match Rating: ½ *

Domino stands over his partner and then comes off the ropes and kicks him in the face. I guess this tag team is over. Exactly what the tag division needs! Less legit tag teams!

We get a replay from ECW where Miz is questioning Theodore R. Long about facing Finlay and Hornswoggle at Night of Champions before Finlay levels him with a nasty looking shillelagh shot. Ouch.

Miz and Morrison are making their way to the ring. It’s Miz vs. Finlay and its next!

:::Commercial Break:::

Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. The Miz w/ John Morrison

Cole runs down the people who won the money on Monday. A fifteen year old won like $50,000 but I remember reading in the rules that you have to be over eighteen. Rigged. Hornswoggle goes under the ring before the match starts. John Morrison joins Foley and Cole for commentary.

The bell rings and Miz goes for a quick hit but Finlay gets a waist lock from behind and then laughs at Miz! Before you know it Finlay has him on his knees and elbows him in the face! Side headlock takeover and Finlay has it locked in tight with Miz on the canvas. Miz gets up and shoves Finlay off into the ropes and Finlay levels him with a shoulder block. Finlay gets a one count and then picks him up, hits a European Uppercut and stomps on his hands! Finlay bangs Miz’s head against the turnbuckle and hits another nasty European Uppercut! Finlay takes him into a clothesline for a one count. Finlay hits some forearms, sends Miz into the ropes and ducks his head but Miz kicks him in the face. Finlay is in the corner and Miz hits that nice clothesline in the corner where half his body goes through the middle ropes and Finlay rolls to the outside.

Finlay grabs Miz’s legs and tries to drag him out but Miz kicks him off and into the barricade. Finlay is holding his right shoulder as Miz throws him in the ring, hits an axe handle and gets a one. Miz has Finlay in a rear chinlock and Hornswoggle emerges to cheer him on and Morrison calls him a troll before getting up, prompting ol’ Horny to go back under the ring. Miz now has Finlay in a neck lock, twisting his head at a sickening angle. Miz holds it in before Finlay gets up and drives him into the turnbuckle, which doesn’t break the hold, nor does it a second time. Third time is the charm in this case. Miz goes for a kick to the midsection but Finlay catches it and pulls him in for a stiff clothesline. Finlay hits two more, a bodyslam and a jumping butt bump for a two count! Morrison gets off commentary and goes to drag Hornswoggle out from under the ring, distracting Finlay like they did last week, which cost Finlay the match then. Finlay, the veteran, elbows Miz who was charging him, trying to finish the match up and then Miz kicks him down. Morrison drags Hornswoggle out from under the ring again and he hits him with a giant shillelagh in the knee, distracting Miz! Finlay gets Miz set up for the Celtic Cross, destroys him with it and picks up the win! Miz and Morrison’s distraction is turned around on them this week!

Winner by Pinfall: Finlay
Match Rating: * ¾

Morrison is overselling the knee injury and drags Miz out of the ring while Finlay threatens to dart the giant shillelagh at Morrison’s head, causing him to cower.

Batista vs. Chavo Guerrero is next!

:::Commercial Break:::

They show the RAW Rebound which featured nothing other than the Million Dollar Mania. They show all the inbreeds who won and not the fact that Ric Flair made a surprise appearance or Lance Cade teamed with Jericho to destroy the two men in the WWE Championship match. If it wasn’t you winning do you really need to see the ones who did win?

Michael Cole reminds Mick Foley that he can’t register because he’s an employee of WWE. They then run down the current card for Night of Champions. It’s not a bad card.

Batista is making his way to the ring now. What kind of a pit is miles and miles long? And what’s so dangerous about it?

Vickie Guerrero comes out and says that Charles Robinson was supposed to be the referee for tonight but obviously cannot be there at this time. The crowd boos her mercilessly. She says she has assigned a Guest Referee to this match and if he so much as lays a finger on this referee he will lose his title shot at Night of Champions. Who could it be? She introduces the referee: the World Heavyweight Champion Edge!

:::Commercial Break:::

Batista vs. Chavo Guerrero w/ Bam Neely
Guest Referee: Edge

Chavo, Bam Neely and Edge are in the ring with Batista and Vickie Guerrero is up on the ramp, love struck while watching Edge. Edge is in Batista’s face, letting him know he’s in control.

Edge calls for the bell. Chavo and Batista circle the ring and Batista bumps into Edge. Batista looks at him but Edge shows him the referee shirt. Chavo goes for a headlock but Batista pushes him off and Chavo comes into a shoulder block. Chavo is up against the ropes and Batista is just watching him. Edge is in Batista’s face again. Batista charges Chavo into the corner, hits some shoulders to the midsection and an elbow. Then Batista Irish whips Chavo into the ropes and hits a reverse elbow to the face. Batista is wrenching the arm of Chavo Guerrero and is loosening it up with punches. He wraps Chavo’s arm around the top rope and Neely gets on the apron. Batista tells Edge to do his job and get Neely off the apron. While that’s going on Chavo slams Batista’s head into the top turnbuckle and lays in some rights. He then gets to the second rope and goes for the audience participatory ten punches but only gets two and is thrown off by Batista, landing on his back. Batista lifts Chavo up for what looks like a suplex and holds him there ala the late great British Bulldog but then turns it into a Jackhammer! Goldturd lives! Edge is adjusting his pants for some reason and then slowly counts the one and Chavo has already kicked out. Batista is pissed. He gets Chavo up and hits a snapmare and goes to the ropes for something but is tripped up by Edge who stuck his foot out! Genius! Chavo jumps all over Batista and is punching and then starts choking Batista on the second rope and it’s nonchalantly stopped by Edge. Edge turns his back and Neely chokes Batista with the bottom rope.

Batista is up and Chavo and Batista are in a punch off. Batista whips Chavo into the corner and is met by Chavo’s boot while charging. Chavo goes to the second rope and Batista catches him and puts him on his shoulder for a slam but Edge pulls the leg and fast counts Batista and almost gives Chavo the match! Chavo hits Batista with a European Uppercut and Edge fast counts Batista again for a close two count! Chavo has Batista in a Chickenwing Arm Lock and Edge is in Batista’s face telling him to give up. Batista gets up and punches Chavo off, goes to the ropes but is dropkicked down by Chavo and it’s another close pinfall count by Edge. Batista reverses an Irish whip on Chavo and hits a HUGE back body drop on Chavo followed by two hard clotheslines in the corner. Batista then hits a big shoulder slam and does his Warrior rope shake thing and Bam Neely pulls him out! Edge fast counts and Batista is counted out of this match!

Winner by Count Out: Chavo Guerrero
Match Rating: * ¼

Batista is livid and Vickie Guerrero is beaming. Batista gets in the ring and Chavo runs into a big spinebuster. Batista then grabs Edge by the throat and he begs him not to do anything but before he even can Hawkins and Ryder are in the ring. Batista clotheslines them down and turns into a big clothesline from Bam Neely. It’s now a big beatdown from La Familia on Batista while Edge gives instructions. Hawkins and Ryder hit a double team DDT on Batista and then hold him down for a Chavo Guerrero Frog Splash! Edge is now asking them to prop him up and the World Heavyweight Champion breaks Batista in half with a spear!

La Familia has their hands raised as Smackdown goes off the air!

Mike’s Thoughts

Hello there. For those of you that didn’t check the Smackdown Recap last week, I’m Mike Tedesco, the official recapper for WrestleView.com. I’m proud to be here and I hope you enjoy what you’ve read so far. For those wondering about the star ratings, I rate out of four. I doubt we’ll ever see a four star match on Smackdown. I’m pretty tough on it. Now for a few of my quick thoughts…

I think they’re setting MVP up to go to RAW or are setting him up for a bigger push on Smackdown. I personally believe he’ll be going over to RAW while Edge’s old rival John Cena will be heading to Smackdown. If that happens I can see an Undertaker vs. John Cena match at Wrestlemania 25 in Undertaker’s hometown of Houston, TX and John Cena possibly ending the famous streak. You heard it here first, folks.

They’re trying to do some things with this Batista vs. Edge feud but it’s just so done and stale I’m not excited for it at all. This draft is coming at just the right time.

Who’s going to face Natalya Neidhart at Night of Champions to determine the first Diva Champion? I think it’s going to be Michelle McCool and if not it might be a RAW Diva who gets drafted over. My pick is Melina. I need to see her in HD since USA in HD isn’t carried on Comcast.

The Finlay and Hornswoggle vs. Miz and Morrison feud is pretty good. Miz and Morrison are funny as all hell and they’re really making this feud great… well as great as it can be when involving a character who’s supposed to be a leprechaun and lives under the ring with his estranged father Finlay…

Matt Hardy is a great United States Champion and if I heard correctly it’ll be Edge vs. Matt Hardy next week. Does this mean Matt is staying on Smackdown? Also, I like that they’re trudging up that old rivalry. I wish Matt could just get a big push now so it’s Matt Hardy vs. Edge at Summerslam done the right way.

The Charles Robinson vs. Great Khali match was one of the funniest and saddest things I’ve seen on wrestling in a while. Robinson’s selling of Khali’s boring moves made the match and made the moves not boring for one night!

The La Familia stable is great but they just need some new opponents… NOW!

Overall Smackdown was just OK. We had eight matches in two hours, a lot of them short and the two Main Events (MVP vs. Kane and Batista vs. Chavo) ended in count outs.

Final Smackdown Rating: **

It would’ve been * ¾ but the Charles Robinson comedy special gave it that extra fourth!

I’d love to get some feedback from fans and even people who hated the review.

Email – MikeyT817@hotmail.com

I think Smackdown will be preempted in my area but I will still report on it when it comes on! It may just be a little late.

Thanks for reading!
