Plans for a 'World Title' Match next week on Smackdown & more
On Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 6:04 PM EST If you haven't read the Smackdown spoilers yet (we have two reports up on the main page), it was announced at last night's taping that The Undertaker would be defending the World Heavyweight Title next week against Batista in a Steel Cage Match. This match will be taped at next Tuesday's tapings in Pittsburgh. A title match is being rushed as a result of Undertaker's torn bicep injury.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that this doesn't necessarily mean that Batista will win the title, although the plan is that Undertaker will no longer be champion by the end of the tapings next week unless plans change late. Either way, all plans regarding a long-term run with Undertaker has champion have been scrapped.
