» One of the worst kept secrets in wrestling is now confirmed, as on April 22nd, Sam Slam faces his first ‘true test’ in IPW:UK. After getting what could possibly be described as a shock win against Iceman at Final Frontiers and capturing the All-England title away from the former FWA, Slam is now a two-time title holder, also holding the British National Under 23’s title.
On April 22nd, however, in a double-non title contest, IPW:UK will throw Sam Slam in right at the deep end against one of the rising stars of the American circuit, PWG and ROH’s Davey Richards.
Richards made his Orpington Halls debut back in February of 2006, when Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ran the England leg of their European Vacation at the venue. In the main event, Richards impressed many and left a strong impression on both wrestlers and fans alike. Fast forward to April 07, and Richards is back in the country for the King of Europe cup in Liverpool on April 28th/29th (koecup.com for more). If you thought Iceman vs. Sam Slam was brutal, just wait to see what Davey Richards has in store for the U23 champion!
» As is now customary for the top talents in IPW:UK, when promotions from across the pond come knocking, we don’t stand in people’s way (Jonny Storm, Spud and Pac himself have all been given leave of their IPW:UK bookings in the past to compete in America and beyond), and for ‘The Man That Gravity Forgot’ the chance to head out to America and wrestle for another new promotion in the form of CHIKARA was one we wanted to help him achieve.
Unfortunately for the IPW:UK “Wrestler of the year 2006", this means that he will now miss Battle Royale on April 22nd. As such, IPW:UK have signed a very special SURPRISE replacement that nobody will be disappointed with – the hint being that this international star will also be on the King of Europe Cup!
» The first few names for April 22nd’s “Battle Royale" match have already been announced – today we can announce three more:
SWISS MONEY HOLDING – ARES & MARC ROUDIN (11, 12)
The current IPW:UK Tag Team Champions will be both on the attack and the defensive on April 22nd, as they will be looking to win the match and possibly add some singles gold to their repertoire here in IPW:UK, but also be looking to watch their back, because whoever eliminates them faces them (if they retain their titles) the next month at Royale Rewards!
eXodus (13)
The monster eXodus made a big impact upon his debut at the back end of 2006, absolutely destroying young Lucien from the midlands on two separate occasions. After losing by Countout to Leroy Kincaide in October however, he didn’t re-surface until a big match against Jonny Storm in Portsmouth at the start of the month. With a point to prove, and a massive frame, eXodus has to be one of the favourites to last long into the night.
» It should be remembered, that any champions who enter the match are at risk themselves – if they are thrown out of the Battle Royale match (and 29 people will be!), then the next month, May 20th at Royale Rewards, they must face whoever targets them and eliminates them successfully one-on-one (or two-on-two) for the gold!
» And in addition to the surprise replacement for ‘The Man That Gravity Forgot’ Pac, there will also be four more surprises on the night including three debuts and one IPW:UK return!
The Battle Royale Over The Top Rope Rumble
- Currently confirmed entrants: Martin Stone, ‘Sadistic’ Jack Storm, Dave Moralez, JC Thunder, Sam Slam, Dan Head, Max Voltage, Mad Man Manson, JP Monroe, Atsushi Aoki, eXodus, Marc Roudin, Ares plus 12 further names to be announced AND five surprise entrants on the night!
IPW:UK Tag Team Title Match
- Swiss Money Holding (Ares/Marc Roudin) (c) vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Go Shiozaki and IPW:UK’s newest permanent roster member, Doug Williams
True Test Match
- Sam Slam (U23’s Champion) vs. Davey Richards (PWG/RoH Star)
Tag Team Elimination Gauntlet
- The Untouchables (Jack Storm/Dave Moralez) vs. Madder Than You (Mad Man Manson/JP Monroe) vs. Maximum Head vs. Several Other Top British Tag Teams
The JC Thunder DVD Launch Party
- JC Thunder (w/ Blok Busta) launches his first ever DVD!
And much much more in what is certain to be IPW:UK’s 1st celebratory event since capturing and closing the FWA! Your Master Of Ceremonies ‘Hardcore’ John Atkins, with referees Chris Hatch and Andy Quildan.

» With the FWA:Academy and Mark Sloan closing their doors this January, IPW:UK know potential when they see it, and immediately signed up 3 prominent former FWA:A venues for a trial triple-shot this coming April.
After a successful Mountbatten Centre debut last weekend, we move on to the Hayling Island Community Centre this Friday the 13th of April. Previously this event was in fear of being cancelled, but that is not the case - it WILL take place!
Then on Saturday April 14th IPW:UK make their debut at the Buckland Community Centre - the venue that most FWA:A and Hampshire wrestling fans will be most familiar with. A mainstay throughout the promotion's 5 year history, holding many notable full FWA shows in its time, packed in around 300 people to see the FWA:A's "Graduation Day" on January 27th. Come Saturday April 14th, IPW:UK will be in full force in Portsmouth, and Buckland will be a home away from home to a new promotion - IPW:UK.
For you to be there live and in person head over to our new online store, at: http://www.ipwuk.com/shop/.
» Hold, stop press - (most of) the Hayling Island debut card is now available, and looks to be a cracker. In addition to the previously announced main event contest of Maximum Head (Max Voltage & Dan Head) versus the Hated Heroes (Andy Boy Simmonz & Aviv Maayan), we have for you:
- Making their Hayling Island debuts, IPW:UK top gun Paul Robinson goes one-on-one with the emo superstar, Zack Sabre Jr. This is one of two matches the pair will have that weekend, as Sabre, a NWA-Hammerlock champion, looks to make an impression and find his way onto IPW:UK shows as a regular fixture.
- The Damned Nation is coming, this time to Hayling Island, as Majik and Dragon Aisu (w/ Gabriel Grey) will face off against two of IPW:UK's finest in singles action, as Dragon Aisu faces former IPW:UK Champion Martin Stone, while Majik enters into a 'first-time-ever' encounter against none other than #1 contender James Tighe - with the #1 contendership on the line!
- Ant Lacayo makes his IPW:UK debut as he takes on fellow former Academy rookie Jake McClusky. Much like in Buckland the next night, McClusky will be looking to make up for losing the eight-man tag match at the Mountbatten Centre on April 1st!
- Plus, Blok Busta and Payday Patterson will be involved in more antics with The Chav's!
