“Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event…” The WWE video leads us into the show.

The Smackdown video plays and we’re brought into the arena with some pyrotechnics. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcome us to the show. Tonight Kane will lay out a challenge to the Undertaker. Kane’s pyro hits and he’s ready to have a match. He comes out looking very confident after decisively beating his brother at Night of Champions.

Kane sets his pyro off and grabs a microphone. Kane says whatever powers of the dark side remained with the Undertaker couldn’t stop him on Sunday. Kane took everything he had to offer but he still left behind a pile of ruins. Kane proved he was the dominant brother when he dumped him on his head, crushing his skull and legend. Undertaker is now no better than the millions of weak and pathetic people watching all over the WWE Universe. What makes him weak and pathetic is his fear. Kane can smell it and gets out of the ring.

Kane goes into the crowd and says the stench of fear is all over the arena. Kane says everyone is afraid of the unknown and failure. Kane stops by a kid and says everyone is afraid of what he’s capable of. Kane says he’s the living, breathing embodiment of our fears. The one thing we desire most in our lives is that he just disappears and goes away. Kane looks at the kid and says the monster is going nowhere.

Kane says he has a challenge for the Undertaker later tonight that he won’t allow him to deny. Kane may have destroyed his body this past Sunday but soon enough, on his own terms, he will destroy his legend and soul.

Mike’s Thoughts

OHHHHHHH YEAH!!! Paul Bearer is back!!! I’ve been a huge fan of the Undertaker since his early days going head to head with the likes of Jake Roberts and Giant Gonzalez. Back then Paul Bearer was his manager/voice so I went nuts seeing him return tonight. I saw him return in 2004 at WrestleMania XX and that was a great moment. Unfortunately they killed him off three months later so I’m curious to see if they’ll even mention that. I hope Paul Bearer sticks around. Oh man, could you imagine if they brought back the Funeral Parlor for next week?! This feud keeps getting better and better. That was basically the only good thing on this show, though.

Aside from that huge surprise in the final segment, this episode of Smackdown was not a strong way to finish up on MyNetwork TV. Everything was average: the matches, most of the segments, and the crowd. I normally don’t mention how the crowd is but tonight they aided in killing this show. They sat on their hands the whole time.

I’m so excited for next week’s LIVE edition of Smackdown on the SyFy network. It’s going to be a tremendous debut on the network, especially after tonight’s explosive surprise. I’m proud to announce that I will be covering the show as it happens with a live play-by-play starting Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET (7:00 p.m. CT). If you don’t get SyFy then be sure to connect to Wrestleview.com and get the full results as the show happens.

Final Rating: ** 1/4
