TNA iMPACT!: The Whole F’N Show
Orlando, Florida (Impact Zone)
August 19, 2010
Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz
Report by: Josh Boutwell of Wrestleview.com

Tonight’s episode kicks off with Jeff Hardy attacking Abyss in the back, “moments ago,” trying to get revenge for what Abyss did to RVD last week. Abyss and Hardy brawl all around the backstage and Abyss gets the better of Hardy and starts screaming at him. Abyss then tosses Hardy into a wall and then drags him into the Impact Zone. Abyss drags Hardy towards ringside where the fans are filing into the Impact Zone. Abyss grabs a broom stick and nails Hardy with it repeatedly. Abyss chases the cameraman away and then Hardy comes back and nails Abyss with the broom stick now. Abyss comes back again and tosses Hardy into the ring steps. Abyss throws Hardy into the guardrail and they continue to brawl. Hardy comes back and tosses Abyss into the steps and then kicks Abyss. Hardy and Abyss brawl back into the crowd and Hardy throws a chair at Abyss! Hardy slams Abyss in the head with right hands but Abyss comes back with a right hand to the ribs. Abyss throws Hardy into a wall and then starts choking him with an extension cord. Hardy and Abyss continue to go back and forth in the backstage area. They keep blurring Hardy’s back out for some reason, don’t know if his crack is showing or what (thank you TNA if that’s the case). They brawl back into where the fans are lined up outside and then security finally comes out (it’s the two idiots that are wannabe wrestlers) and they grab Hardy and drag him off.

We cut back to the arena as Eric Bischoff walks down to the ring (with no music). Bischoff says that he’s never in his 20 years in wrestling has he seen anything as horrific as what we saw last week on Impact at the end of the show. Bischoff says they hold Ric Flair completely responsible for the attack on EV2 and he doesn’t know what his motivation for doing this was but they will not stand for it. Bischoff looks over at Dixie Carter in the crowd and he apologizes to her and he assures her that they will hold Flair responsible. Bischoff says what Abyss did to RVD was barbaric and borderline homicidal. He says that he knows Hardy tried to get a little revenge earlier but Abyss has no idea what he has coming to him courtesy of himself and Hogan. Bischoff says he wants to update us on RVD’s condition before he goes. He says it’s worse than they thought and he just saw RVD in the hospital today. He says that Van Dam is being held together by stitches, staples, and pins. He says Bischoff has over 117 stitches from his neck all the way down to his ankle and his doctor feels that he may a punctured organ and he may have head trauma. Bischoff says that he wants Van Dam to know that if and when he is able to get back in the ring everyone in TNA will welcome him with open arms. He says RVD always has a home in TNA. Bischoff says that the sad fact is the show must go on and after meeting with RVD’s doctors, Dixie Carter, and Hogan they knew they had to make a decision. He says they were faced with no options but to vacate the TNA World Heavyweight Championship which gets a chorus of boos. Bischoff says they will hold a Tournament that will begin tonight and end at Bound for Glory and it will be made up of the 8 top contenders in the Top 10 Rankings. Bischoff says his thoughts and prayers are with RVD and they wish him the best but the show must go on and it will tonight.

———————COMMERCIAL BREAK———————–

Back from commercials Fortune is already in the ring. Flair asks if someone used the word power and he says, in the ring, is what you call impact with power. Flair says Kazarian, AJ, Beer Money, and the newest Fortune members Doug Williams and Matt Morgan. He calls Matt Morgan his “insurance policy” and says not to screw around with Ric Flair. He says Fortune IS TNA and he says everyone needs to learn to love it because it isn’t going anywhere soon. Flair calls EV2 a circus act and a bunch of undisciplined animals. He dares them to call themselves wrestlers and says they make him sick to his stomach. Flair says EV2 doesn’t even belong in the business and it’s a fact, not personal. He says the marquee says “Pro Wrestling” not garbage cans, tables, and kendo sticks. Flair says they can all do that too and in fact Flair can crash in an airline and still walk around and talk about (facts). Flair says until EV2 can do that they can kiss his a**. Flair hands the microphone to AJ and AJ says EV2 couldn’t leave well enough alone. He says they had to come into TNA and get that last bit of glory and had to be on TV one more time. AJ says they wanted a hardcore finale and that’s exactly what they got last week. AJ says no one has wrestled in a TNA ring more than him (fact) and he is TNA and TNA is AJ Styles. AJ says TNA is the house that AJ Styles built. Dixie Carter cuts AJ off!

She walks out and says AJ may have helped build TNA but he better make no mistake, she owns it and it’s her house. She then says if it’s her house then it’s they’re house and points at the tunnel. EV2 walks out! Tommy Dreamer, F.B.I., Mick Foley, Rhino, Stevie Richards, and Sabu are there.

Dixie says Hulk and Eric tried to tell her about Ric but she never listened and she gave Flair every benefit of the doubt since he came to TNA, but those days are over now. Dixie says Flair thought he saw these guys for the last time at Hardcore Justice but she’s going to clue him in. She says as of last Thursday they didn’t have contracts but as of tonight…Tommy Dreamer then pulls out of a stack of contracts from his back pocket and Dixie says they all do! Flair looks at Dixie and asks what on his resume says that he takes any crap from women. Dreamer says that Flair is the greatest wrestler of all time (and Flair screams “I KNOW IT!) but if it wasn’t for Dixie asking them not to EV2 would come down to the ring and kick everyone of Fortune’s a**es right now! Fortune dares them to come down. Dreamer says Dixie acknowledged the past but now it’s time to move forward and now it’s all about TNA. Flair says this is about Fortune not TNA. Mick Foley talks about a drunken phone call from Ric Flair on December 26th and that night Flair pissed and moaned about being down on his luck. Flair is going nuts as Foley tells the story and Morgan has to hold him back. Foley says he told Flair how great it was to be part of TNA and he told Flair to make the move to come to TNA. Foley says now he regrets even telling Flair to come to TNA. Flair tells Foley to come “roll in the thumbtacks again” with him. Foley then says he doesn’t work for Ric Flair, he works for Dixie Carter and TNA. Flair says that’s too bad because he works for himself and Fortune. Flair tells Foley to go home and get soft while Fortune kick a** and take names. Dreamer says they are a man of their words and they will do nothing, right NOW. Dreamer says what Abyss did to RVD affects them and TNA and they will get him back the only way they know how. Dreamer then turns his attention to AJ and agrees that 100% TNA is the house that AJ built and he has nothing but respect for AJ until last week. Dreamer says they are sore and beaten but tonight it will be Dreamer vs. AJ in AJ’s house and they will make it EXTREME! Flair “woo’s” at EV2 as the two factions scream at each other back and forth.

In the back Sting (white and black facepaint tonight) and Nash walk towards the Impact Zone.

———————COMMERCIAL BREAK———————–

In the back Mr. Anderson discusses the tournament and says he hopes RVD gets well, saying he’s been in that position before, but the show must go on and a win is a win.

Sting’s music hit and “The Icon” makes his way out to the ring with Kevin Nash right beside him. Big Kev gets on the microphone and says he’s known Sting for 20 years and they’ve had their disagreements but he can honestly say that there is no one in Wrestling that he respects more than Stinger. Nash says he’s been called a cancer before as well as a lot of other things, but after 20 years and 28 operations he’s not out there for just the damn money. He says he loves to do what he does and he’ll be damned if someone tells him that it’s his time to step aside. Nash says nobody tells him nothing, you ask him and if you want his spot then come take it. Nash says they’re ‘that’ close in TNA to turning the edge and really making it happen. Nash says the cancer in TNA isn’t in the ring right now it’s in the back. Nash says the smoke and mirrors, bullsh*t they’re doing it. Nash says that Sting told him he’s just wasting his time doing this but then turns to the fans and asks if they want to know what’s really going on with the truth around here.

Jeff Jarrett cuts him off from the ramp and says the truth is if anybody is full of BS tonight it’s Nash. Jarrett says he’s known Nash since day one and a leopard doesn’t change his spots. Jarrett says it’s always been about Kevin Nash and Nash never gave a damn about anybody and that won’t ever change. Jarrett says he can stand up on the stage tonight and open up Sting’s closet door and talk about all of Sting’s skeletons. He says they can talk about what kind of man Sting really is, but he won’t do that but he will tell Sting and Nash that there is a locker room full of guys sick and tired of the games Nash and Sting have been playing. Jarrett says that Sting and Nash know better than anyone that TNA is much better off with Hogan and Bischoff then they were before. Jarrett says he’s going to do something tonight in honor of Hogan and Bischoff and that thing is he’s going to walk down to the ring and grab a chair and beat both of Nash and Sting’s a**es! Hogan walks through the tunnel and says if that’s the case then Jarrett isn’t going by himself. Hogan walks out and says everybody knows who Sting and Nash really are. Hogan says Jarrett built TNA from the ground up and then he and Bischoff came into the company to help him finish the job. Hogan says the reason Nash and Sting are so jealous is because the spotlight is shining on the young guys now and not them. Hogan says he and Jarrett are both going to walk down there and end this thing and asks Sting for once in his life to put the bat to the side and do it like a real man. Sting looks right at him and throws the bat to the side. Jarrett and Hogan walk down to the ring where Sting and Nash are waiting. Jarrett goes to one side and Hogan to the other and they climb into the ring with Nash and Sting. The lights go out and when they come back on Fortune is standing in the ring!

AJ is beating on Nash in a corner while Hogan and Jarrett are laid out in the ring and the rest of Fortune is surrounding Sting! Sting fights back but Fortune beats him down! Fortune mug for the cameras holding up their new hand sign (which kind of looks like a gang sign actually) and they’re new music (which is actually pretty tight) plays.

———————COMMERCIAL BREAK———————–

He then says Dixie gave them contracts and they have to get with it. Dreamer says there is a bigger picture and Raven mocks him saying there is always a bigger picture with him. Stevie walks in and Dreamer and he continue to talk Raven into ‘waiting’ before they get Fortune like Dixie asked them.

Final Thoughts

Coming off the heels of “The Whole F’N Show” I thought tonight was solid (not near as good as last weeks but still solid). We got a lot of storyline progression going on.

The opening segment with Hardy and Abyss brawling wasn’t a very good brawl honestly as we’ve seen that type of brawl a million times before in TNA.

The promo from Bischoff was actually pretty solid and he came off sincere for once. I don’t like moving into the Tournament because I HATE seeing a Champion drop the belt without being beaten. For those that don’t know, RVD isn’t done with TNA. He has a certain amount of dates a year on his contract and TNA was burning through them too quickly (because he’d been doing ALL house shows since he started with TNA) so he’s taking time off before he comes back.

The opening match with Terry and Hardy wasn’t very good as expected. Hardy looked to be going through the motions and Terry sucks but at least Hardy won it.

Lethal and Anderson had a really fun short match but Lethal’s push seems to be pretty much over.

The Knockouts Match was okay but like always was too short. They need to just reveal the mystery chick and move on because I think a Beautiful People vs. Beautiful People feud with Angelina & Velvet against Madison and that mystery person it’s rumored to be (I’m not going to say the name) would be great as long as they keep Lacey out of it as much as possible.

Angle-Williams was about as good as it gets for a 5 minute match. Angle put over Williams without losing which he does so well.

Pope-Morgan had an OK match with an awesome finish.

The Fortune promo was great and they gave their explanations and all through the night Taz really put over, very well, the hatred that Fortune seems to have for EV2 being brought into TNA. I don’t know how much Fortune can get out of this feud but the answer is they definitely have to go over.

As for the Tournament I think the fact that we have 4 babyfaces in it is kind of interesting to how they play this out on the PPV. Pope and Angle seems like a great Finals but I would imagine they would go for Anderson vs. Angle since it was such a great feud earlier this year. We all know Angle isn’t going to lose because of the “if I lose, I’ll retire” stipulation which I hate that they added because it really makes it obvious.

Promo/Segment of the Night: Fortune/EV2 promo
Match of the Night: Williams vs. Angle (***)
Overall Grade: B
